Sephora cruelty-free list – K to Z

Hi Everyone,

How are you?

Here is the second part of the Sephora cruelty-free list. I’ll link the first part at the end if you’re just catching up now.

Let’s just get into it, shall we!

Kat Von D

Official Statement: Absolutely not! Kat Von D Beauty has, (and always will be) 100% cruelty-free. And this is something Kat has always been extremely proud of!

Vegan products:

Although the FDA hasn’t established a regulation for what it means to be “vegan,” we define it as as a product that does not contain any animal products or by-products, and has not been tested on animals.

Kat Von D Beauty products marked #VeganAlert indicate that the finished product is vegan.

Kat Von D Beauty never tests on animals—and never will.

Lollipops

Official Statement: Like all of our brands, Lollipops is 100% Cruelty-Free, which means that no product or ingredient has been tested on animals.

Vegan products: Nothing specified on the website.

NARS

Official Statement: NARS does not test on animals, nor do we have any other parties, such as suppliers, conduct any animal testing on our behalf. NARS uses only the highest quality ingredients which have a proven safety record and are widely used in the cosmetics industry.

Vegan products: We are continually evaluating alternatives to animal-derived ingredients and have replaced many ingredients with vegetable derived substitutes. However, certain NARS products may contain animal derivatives, such as lanolin. If you would like further information as to which NARS products contain animal derivatives please contact customer care and we will provide that information.

NUDESTIK

Official Statement: Do you test on animals? No way!  All our products are environmentally friendly, not tested on animals, gluten free, and formulated with the most skin-loving ingredients.

Vegan products: Nothing written on the FAQ but under certain products, you can see the following logos.

Sleek MakeUP

Official statement: We do not conduct tests on animals.

Vegan products: No list on the website but The Vegan Taff has managed to make a list of the vegan products available.

SMASHBOX

Official Statement: We are cruelty-free. We test our products on human volunteers, not animals.

I have to say, this one is tricky. They used to sell their products in China and have updated their policy in 2016. So technically, they are not 100% cruelty-free since they used to test on animals when required.

What do you think?

They are PETA approved, though.

Vegan products: Yes

Although, this answer from their customer service is questionable:

“technically all smashbox products are considered vegan.

“Animals” is a term widely recognized to mean mammals. Our cosmetics are free of animal ingredients. Some vegans may also consider “insects” to be animals. This is a gray area and is even debated by PETA followers. Some time ago, smashbox determined that our official interpretation of “No animal ingredients” really means “No animal ingredients…insects are not animals”. We have continued to use Carmine, Beeswax, and Honey in cosmetic formulations. Our brushes are not cosmetics so technically are not subject to this claim.”

Alifevegan

TOO FACED

Official Statement: No way, Too Faced loves animals! Our products are totally cruelty-free. In fact, our brushes are made with the softest and gentlest teddy-bear hair.

Vegan products: Here is a complete list of our Vegan-friendly products (no animal bi-products) : see list on the website.

URBAN DECAY

Official Statement: Urban Decay is a cruelty-free brand and is committed to ending animal testing. We do not test our products on animals, nor do we allow others to test on our behalf. Additionally, we require our suppliers to certify that the raw materials used in the manufacture of our products are not tested on animals. Our Brand is certified by both PETA and The Leaping Bunny Program (CCIC) as cruelty-free.

Vegan products: Urban Decay certifies that our products marked vegan do not contain any animal-derived ingredients. Please note that within a product category, such as Eyeshadows, some shades will be marked as vegan, and others will not. We have an ongoing initiative with our laboratories to not only create shades (and entire product lines) that are vegan from the start, but also to identify which of our non-vegan products can be converted. In many situations, plant-derived or synthetic alternatives to animal-derived ingredients become available. As long as we can deliver the same high-quality products with rich Colour and texture, we will convert that product to 100% vegan ingredients, so be on the lookout for new offerings.

ZOEVA

Official Statement: The ingredients and textures used are in accordance with the current Cosmetics Directive and have undergone toxicological and safety evaluative testing to ensure product safety. Animal testing we refuse steadfastly.

Vegan products: we offer a wide selection of vegan products and emphasize particularly that all of our products are 100% cruelty-free.

Lots of Kisses
