The Best Horror movies of 2017 (so far)

Hey everyone,

I hope you are all doing okay.

I am doing fantastic. September and October are my favourite months. I am not a fan of pumpkin flavoured stuff but I do love the weather, homemade soups, fluffy coats and Halloween (I know, how many times do I have to tell you, right?)

So in honour of the end of September and the beginning of the fantastic month of October, here is a list of horror movies you shouldn’t sleep on this year.

Do I even have to introduce this classic to you guys?  An evil space creature comes out of the sewers every 27 years to terrorise children and feed on their fears.

A must watch if you like horror movies, Stephen King, if you liked Strangers Things and want to see Finn Wolfhard in something else. Or maybe you can’t do horror without a touch of comedy.

This one is for you.

Two families, a secluded cabin in the wood, a potential devastating disease and a red door.

Now here is an interesting movie. I personally loved it. This is not your typical in your face horror, jump scares movie. If you like suspenseful, intriguing movie set in a single location, you’ll love this one.

I freaking love James McAvoy. I do. To me, he can’t do no wrong. I have loved him in The Chronicles of Narnia, Penelope, Filth, X-MEN and his performance in Split is just the glazed cherry on top of the m********ing cake.

Three Girls get abducted by James McAvoy, trapped somewhere underground, they desperately try to escape (bonus points if you watch Unbreakable after).

I was expecting a lot from this movie for the simple reasons that I love Jordan Peele and I liked Daniel Kaluuya performance in Black Mirror. I don’t know if GET OUT classifies as a horror movie but the story is pretty terrifying to me.

Nonetheless, this movie got me laughing, staring at the screen fascinated and shaking my head in disbelief .

100% recommend it.

I know, shocking, I talked so much crap about the first Annabelle movie and swore up and down that I would never ever watch a movie about this damn doll again.

Annabelle Creation has some pretty good jump scares, a nice enough cast and a creepy atmosphere. Even if it tries to shed some light on the origins of the first movie (which was appreciated but not necessary), I will never retract my statement about the first Annabelle (it was crap).

Members of a colony ship are attracted to a remote planet. Whilst it seems perfect at first, they meet someone and some things which will change their fates forever.

If I had to rank my favourite horror movies of 2017, this one would come second, right after IT. I’ll probably get some hate for this but I liked it better than the first and second Alien movies.

100% recommend and would watch again.

  1. I saw IT the opening weekend and can’t stop thinking about it. For me, it was a perfect horror movie — scary, just a little bit gross and funny! I’ve got to go see it again!

I have to see Annabelle Creation, I guess. I liked the Conjuring movies, but wasn’t a big fan of the first Annabelle movie.. This one looks good, though! Thanks for the recommendations!

    1. Hello 😊! I totally agree with you, this IT movie is fantastic.
I am a big fan of the conjuring movies as well which is why I went to see Annabelle. The second doesn’t disappoint I promise !!
