4 cruelty-free glosses for every budget

Hey everyone,

I hope you are all doing okay.

I am pleased to announce that  “cruelty-free makeup and skincare reviews” have yet again gotten the most votes from you guys.

For those of you who are sick and tired of my rambling thoughts on cruelty-free everything, I plan to write a weekly blog post about my running progress. IF you still don’t give a damn, I’ll see you in January ( 😦  ).

I remember glosses being the first makeup item my mom allowed me to purchase back when I was 14. I bought my first one at Claire’s, wore it twice, decided it wasn’t for me and upgraded to black eyeliner.

Looking back on it now, I realize that I mostly justified my opinion because I wanted to wear my hair down and the gloss obviously prevented that (silly 14 years old me).

The cruelty-free glosses you will find below are from Makeup Revolution, Colourpop and Fenty Beauty.

Makeuprevolution

The more expensive – £10 and up budget – Gloss Bomb Universal Lip Luminizer

This was definitely an “I gave in to the hype” type of purchase. I love Rihanna, I support women entrepreneurs and cruelty-free businesses. I just had to have it.

⊕ The smell is amazing ( I would say vanilla or bubble gum ) and the shine is definitely there. Could be some plumper in it as I have noticed that my lips get slightly poutier when I use it.

⊗ I quote: “Rihanna was obsessed with creating the perfect gloss that makes you want to put it on over and over again.” I keep having to reapply it which is not ideal considering how much I paid for it. I’ll probably run out soon.

The affordable one – Under £10 budget – Colourpop Contessa Ultra Glossy Lip

I’ve always wanted to try Colourpop and about two months ago I placed my first order. Overall, it took about two weeks for the order to get to me which was less than I expected.

My first purchase was a lip liner, a nude liquid lipstick, and a lip gloss. When it comes to the lipgloss, I like it and would definitely recommend it. Here’s why:

⊕ It has the perfect amount of shine without being too glittery. Perfect if you don’t want your lips to look like two disco balls. The application is smooth. The lip gloss is a perfect lip topper.

⊗ Not long lasting at all. It looks better on top of lip liner or regular lipstick than on its own.

The cheap ones – Under £5 budget – Makeup Revolution  – Amazing Clear Lipgloss Crystal

Who doesn’t want a £1 lip gloss?

For £1,  I Just can’t be mad at it. It does its job well.

⊕ Thick and glittery. The applicator picks up a lot of products so I prefer to apply it with my fingers. Moisturizing.

⊗ Can’t be used on eyelids or on top of regular lipstick, it just looks wrong.
