My summer skincare routine feat B.Skincare & The Body Shop

Hi Everyone, Welcome to another random post for this lovely month of June. I hope you are all doing fantastic. I am flying to Barcelona very soon so I thought that it was about time I share with you, my cruelty-free summer skincare routine. Here is what I use every day (pretty much): The Body Shop – TEA TREE Skin Clearing Foaming Cleanser B.skincare Hyaluronic Acid Facial Spritz B.Skincare – B.Confident night serum B.Skincare -Antioxidant Boost Facial Oil Rituals – Organic White Lotus & Yi Yi Ren body cream I start my day with The Body Shop Cleanser. I used to have an exfoliator thing you find for next to nothing at Boots and Superdrug but this foaming cleanser is actually softer and more respectful to my skin. Once the first step is completed, I dry my face and move on to my moisturiser. If you follow the blog, you know that I’ve been trying out some B.Skincare products. I absolutely love them which is why I have also included the brand in my giveaway …

Sephora cruelty-free list – K to Z

Hi Everyone, How are you? Here is the second part of the Sephora cruelty-free list. I’ll link the first part at the end if you’re just catching up now. Let’s just get into it, shall we! Kat Von D Official Statement: Absolutely not! Kat Von D Beauty has, (and always will be) 100% cruelty-free. And this is something Kat has always been extremely proud of! Vegan products:  Although the FDA hasn’t established a regulation for what it means to be “vegan,” we define it as as a product that does not contain any animal products or by-products, and has not been tested on animals. Kat Von D Beauty products marked #VeganAlert indicate that the finished product is vegan. Kat Von D Beauty never tests on animals—and never will. Lollipops  Official Statement: Like all of our brands, Lollipops is 100% Cruelty-Free, which means that no product or ingredient has been tested on animals. Sephora cruelty-free list: A-J

Hi Everyone, How are you? This post will be in two parts as I have other posts I want to write before the end of the month (and going through the whole damn website also takes ages). Let’s just get into it, shall we! Amazing Cosmetics Official statement: AmazingCosmetics has always maintained a commitment to being cruelty-free, and has never tested any of its ingredients or finished products on animals. BUT, and I know that it can be a big but for some. The company sold its products in China until 2015. However, the brand decided to discontinue its line in China and consider itself 100% cruelty-free now. Vegan products: Check products in store as the website does not provide any information. Amore Pacific Official Statement: AMOREPACIFIC has voluntarily discontinued animal testing on cosmetic ingredients and finished goods since 2008. And as of May 1, 2013, we expanded the non-animal testing policy to our suppliers. AMOREPACIFIC brand is sold in Hong Kong, not in mainland China. Spring 2017 MakeUp: Keeping it simple

Hey Everyone, I hope it is not too late to make a little spring makeup essential. I have been working on reducing the amount of makeup (and packaging) I wear. I want to focus on skincare more as summer is approaching (too fast) and the sun will damage my skin big time (just doing a little prevention you know). So lately I have been keeping it simple. Mascara, red lips and a touch of highlight. It has been amazing to let my skin “breathe” and let’s be honest, a touch of red on the lips always make you look put together. Here is what I have been using pretty much every day for the past months: Aromazone Mica Poudre D’or  (£2.10) KIKO Eyebrow Wax Fixing Pencil (£5.90) E.L.F Aqua Beauty Gel Lip Stain in Rouge Radiance (£4.00) Barry M Matte Me Up (POP UP) (£4.99) The Body Shop Lip Balm in Honey Bronze (£6.00) Rituals Hand Balm: Indian Rose & Sweet Almond Oil (sample but the big bottle costs £9.50) I talked about the …

B. Skincare: Cruelty-Free and Affordable

Hi, you guys! How are you? I am very excited for this post! Finally, 100% cruelty-free skincare products (with the little bunny everywhere) that deserves to be talked about. I bet you all remember my huge flop post with the brand Simple. Today is the day I redeem myself and show you some real-ass cruelty-free skincare goodies that I have been using for about a month. B. is a certified cruelty-free brand. I was actually browsing Superdrug’s website when I stumbled onto B. I think that if after this post, if you consider looking into the brand, do your research online first as in stores, the products kinda get lost within the sea of brands available. What is interesting about B.skincare line is that you can either shop by age range or targeted solutions and cleansing. For example, you can choose from 20s to 30s (Phase 1), 30s (Phase 2), ect to 60s and beyond or scroll down to browse all their products. Naturally, I started with  20s to 30s. I picked up several products which I thought …

Superdrug cruelty-free makeup 2017

Hi Everyone, How are you? I said I would do Sephora after Boots but Sephora will take a lot more time as I want to do skincare as well.  Fingers crossed I’ll be done with it by the end of this month. I hope this list will help some of you out. As always, I am not a reference at all in terms of cruelty-free makeup. I am mostly writing this post as a reminder that cruelty-free makeup is everywhere and not as expensive as people like to say. PS: I have tried to leave the one I have even the smallest doubt about (could be lack of official statement, a blogger contacting them or PETA and getting a standard/vague answer) Let’s just jump into it! Barry M Official statement:  Here at Barry M, we love cosmetics but we love animals too. Beauty with compassion has been at the heart of our company since 1982 so that’s why we’re proudly supporting Humane Society International’s global Be Cruelty-Free campaign, the largest campaign in history to achieve a …

Is Primark make up cruelty-free?

Hi Guys, I hope you are all doing okay. When I was in Bournemouth, I needed a quick lipstick to go to dinner and I honestly didn’t feel like spending an enormous amount of money (not that I usually do but you know what I mean). I went to Superdrug and almost bought another Barry M liquid lipstick (I already have the bundle) when I thought, why not check out Primark. I knew Primark had makeup and in my mind it was cruelty-free. So on my way there, I checked the web for an answer and here is what I found: Primark does not conduct and does not commission any animal testing. Our terms of trade with suppliers make it clear that cosmetic products and their ingredients must not be tested on animals. Following concerns about animal welfare and the use of angora in clothing, the company has ceased ordering all products that contain angora. So I bought their £3.00 liquid lipstick kit in the shade “Chocolate Brownie”, similar in terms of color to my …

A tiny Flying Tiger Haul

Hi Everyone, How are we doing? Did you like the 7 days challenge? I honestly am glad it is over. Blogging is definitely a weekend thing for me. Before I publish my monthly update article with our little poll, I thought I’d show you what I got whilst I was in Bournemouth (post coming about the hotel in 3 days). It has become our tradition to go to Flying Tiger every time we visit a new town. I have no idea why. It started when we went to Bath last year for my birthday and since then, every time we see a Flying Tiger, we go in and buy something. This time, we kept it light and bought things that were relevant to us at the time. The first thing I saw in the store was this big black bag for £1.00 next to the makeup section. I love everything black and everything about this “pochette” which I find extremely convenient. The second thing I saw was the massage ball which I had to buy …

Going dark for Valentine’s Day 2017 – Cruelty-Free Lips

Hi Everyone, Happy Happy Happy Valentine’s day (way in advance). For V-day, I will be in Brighton. I will take the time to relax but also, hopefully, get enough pictures to do a hotel review for you guys. I had my collection of bright red lipsticks out in order to make this post and in the middle of my swatches, I decided to change everything and pick four dark lipsticks. I have been wearing really bright eye looks lately and I thought why not just pair a blue eyeliner or bright orange eyeshadow with darker lips for once. I know, for some of you, it’s not a big deal but I am super traditional when it comes to lipstick. I am so afraid to be tacky that I tend to follow stupid unspoken rules and stay in my lane. Anyway, enough BLABLA. Hope you like the colors I selected. I apologize in advance for the pictures, they looked better on my phone (still saving for a camera). NYX Lingerie – BEAUTY MARK I am a …

Promote your blog!

Hi Everyone, I hope you are all doing fantastic. I thought I would give you a little update. Two things made me want to write this blog post: A comment about the brand Simple A comment about veganism Simple has always been an eco-friendly brand, promoting healthy looking skins and natural-ish ingredients. At least, that is how I have always seen it. I went onto their website and was glad to see that they were cruelty-free. I have to admit, I took this information for granted and didn’t double check (which is something I usually do) to make sure I was passing on the right information to you guys. You know I am just getting into cruelty-free skincare and it is true that yes, I went with the stereotype: what is being promoted as natural must be cruelty-free, right? One of my lovely followers commented under this particular post: My favorite cruelty-free skincare products (so far), to let me know that Simple was actually not cruelty-free. You know me, I am more than willing to have …

Best body washes, body scrubs, body everything for animal lovers (and everyone else) + 500 followers

I know, I know. This post should have gone up earlier this month.  I just have been a bit annoyed at myself for many reasons and haven’t been updating the blog much. For this, I apologize and I hope you won’t hold it against me. The blog has reached over 500 followers and I wanted to thank all of you for commenting, liking and getting to know me on here. I wish I could do a giveaway for you guys. Some of you have been here from the beginning and I see all of you! (but for real, do you want me to organize a giveaway?) Original Sources Body Washes I am sure, if you live in England, that you have come across Original Source before. The brand is everywhere: Tesco – Boots – Superdrug. Every time I am out of Body Shop shower products, I run back to Original Source. Their shower gels are cheap (£1.80 with Tesco), you can find them anywhere in central London, and they are vegan. My favorite scents are Limes, …

My favorite cruelty-free skincare products (so far)

Hi Everyone, I want to do a full cruelty-free makeup routine soon and I thought, why not show you some of my favorite skincare products first. I wanted to include bath & body products as well but I have so many that I will write a full post about it (probably before February). Let’s just jump into it, shall we? Simple Soothing Facial Toner & Revitalising eye roll-on I have, to be honest. I had never used toners before this one. I just did not see the point of using them. I was afraid that it would make my skin super dry. My forehead and chin are oily I am very dry around my mouth and nose. I don’t use the toner every day, more like three times a week, right before bed, and I do have noticed a difference. I don’t know if it is the work of the toner only, but my skin looks younger and tighter. So If you are looking for a natural toner that will not damage your skin, try this one. …

Best of cruelty-free sparkly glitter dust (2016)

Hi Everyone, It feels good to be back! I haven’t taken the time to sit down and write a very long post so I am pumped. As you all know, I love love love makeup and transitioning to all cruelty-free was not easy at first. Now, I have to say, I don’t even question it anymore. Just like being full-time vegetarian (doing Veganuary right now), it does not even cross my mind to even look at something other than cruelty-free makeup. I know I will probably sound cliche (right about now), but if there is one thing you can do to help in 2017: ditch fur and makeup products that have been tested on animals. On to the fun stuff now. I was looking for glitters online last year to avoid buying another eyeshadow palette. Yes, there are tons of palettes that I wish I had right now but realistically, I only use three to four shades per palette. Unless there is a palette which I absolutely need to buy, I focus on buying either single shadows …

Christmas Shopping on Etsy for under £15.00

Hi Everyone, I hope this post will not be published too late ! I still have a couple of gifts to buy and I thought why not check out Etsy and see what’s going on. I found some amazing handmade gift ideas for this Christmas and I thought that I would share everything with you ! Jewellery Holders I have TONS of rings and earrings. They are my favorite accessories but the ones I unfortunately, lose the most. I thought that the Jewellery Holders from Naturecraftmoulds look gorgeous !  Keeping it natural and simple, I also found this tree jewelry holder from cracpots for £10.00. It is handmade just like the one above. Last but not least, if you are broke or on a budget and looking for a quick gift for newly engaged friends, you need to check out CatsCeramics on Etsy. The Leaf Bowl is £14.00 and comes all wrapped up in the box above. Vegan leather wallets This is one of my favorite gifts to give for Christmas. I love cute and useful things and the vegan leather is always a …

I tried the e.l.f Hydrating Bubble Mask

Hi Everyone, I thought I would do something a bit different today  beauty wise! I recently got a big e.l.f package in and I thought why not try the Hydrating Bubble Mask for you guys. I love masks and face treatments in general and I was very excited at the idea of having my face covered with bubbles. Not gonna lie, I really wanted to look like this : It came very close though and had a very good laugh. The mask comes in a lovely transparent / clear blue packaging.  It is very important to read the instructions first because it is quite different from any other hydrating masks. After you apply a fine layer all over your face, put a 5 to 10 mins timer on and let the magic happen. PS : I would suggest you clean the top of the box after you pushed down the sides to get the product out.  The sensation is very unique. At first, it is very tingly and being ticklish, I wondered how I was going …

THE BODY SHOP HAUL – LIPS & HAIR

Hi Everyone, Christmas came early this year. As you all know, I am a post graduate student and I work at the same time. It is rare to find the time to spoil yourself when you are busy with uni and work but when I do, I go all the way. I recently got 40% off with The Body Shop for Black Friday and I couldn’t resist. I will not show you everything that I bought as a good half of the order was also gifts for my friends but I purchased quite a bit for myself. If you did not already know, The Body Shop is 100% cruelty-free and the brand displays the whole list of their vegan products on the website. On to the fun stuff now! I got a couple of bath products but the things I am the more excited about are the lips and hair products. Bamboo Paddle Hairbrush & Grapeseed hair serum With my curly hair, I struggle to find a great comb or brush that will not break my hair. It …

MONKI MAKE UP – EYELINERS EDITION

I have to say, I had no idea MONKI actually had makeup. I always shop online on ASOS or go to the MONKI Store on Carnaby Street but I had never ever bothered looking at the “accessories” and beauty section. Before five days ago. So you know me, when I saw the eyeliners ( on sale ), I could not help myself and immediately went online to get more information. And by more information, I mean : Is MONKI cruelty-free ? And it seems like it is guys. As per their website and FAQ : Our policy is not to test our make up on animals, so no, no it isn’t! However, be careful if you are looking for exclusively vegan makeup products. I looked on Facebook and here is what they have to say about vegan products : We’re proud to say that all Monki make-up is 100% cruelty-free. We have a strict policy not to test our products on animals. However, we can’t guarantee that our make-up is or will always be vegan. …

Fall MakeUp – Lips Edition ( and always Cruelty-Free )

Hi Everyone, How are you all doing today ? I am so excited for fall this year. I am not a fan of pumpkin everything ( I actually hate pumpkin ) but I am definitely into darker shades, for my clothes and my makeup. I have selected the four lipsticks I will be wearing this fall. I will definitely purchase more but, in the meantime, I hope you enjoy my fall starter pack. The first one is by far my favorite. It goes on like butter. It is very creamy and pigmented which is how I like my lipsticks. It is a matte lipstick available online and at Superdrug ( for my lovely English readers ). It costs £4.99 and comes in this black tube. I am not going to lie, it looks tiny compared to my other lipsticks. But for the price and long-lasting lip color, I am in !  The second one is from KIKO. I bought it a while ago, thinking it will be perfect for a hot date but I am looking forward to wearing …

Battle of the Highlighters – Drugstore & Cruelty-free

Hi Everyone, How are you ? I hope you all had a great week-end. My boyfriend is back and my best friend is coming to visit very soon so I have a busy week ahead. I will try to write as much as possible and schedule some good posts for you guys. I will be going out a lot this week so I finally took the time to look through my makeup to get some inspiration. Whilst I was skeptical ( and judgmental ) about drugstore products at first, you have to give credit where credit’s due, and some of the makeup I have picked up has been life-changing. I want to talk about highlighters. I love neutral tones and nude eyeshadow palettes. To be honest, my makeup routine is always the same. With highlighters, I feel like I can switch it up and play with different styles without having to get too creative on the eyes or lips. I have 4 drugstore highlighters + 2 KIKOS From left to right :  MUA Undress your skin Highlighting Powder – Pink Shimmer ( £3.00 ) MakeUp Revolution …

Cruelty-Free MakeUp – Drugstore Edition

Hi Everyone, I hope you are all having a fantastic day ! So I bought a ton of cruelty-free makeup from Superdrug this week. Bit of a shopaholic here. As you know, I am still experimenting with cruelty-free brands. I am trying more drugstore brands because most of my “old” makeup ( non cruelty-free ) was exclusively high-end and my poor conditioned self used to think that “if the product is expensive, it’s gotta work”. I was such a spoiled little brat. I am not bashing high-end brands by the way. I love me some Urban Decay ; Too Faced or Anastasia Beverly Hills, but I am open to finding new cruelty free products for a better price. When I went to Superdrug, I was looking for a good eyeshadow palette to match my wardrobe. I’m a neutral tone kind of girl. I like earthy colors, white and black. My favorite palette of all time is the Naked 2, but it is starting to run out now and I needed something simple yet still pigmented. I bought two eyeshadow palettes from …

My Curly Hair Routine

Hi Everyone, I have to get ready for dinner at L’Atelier Joel Robuchon. They have a vegetarian menu which I can not wait to try. This is a casual dinner but as always, I am an anxious person and socializing is a big deal for me. If I am gonna give my audience shit personality, better give them face as well. And hair. BIG hair. A big part of my getting ready routine is taking care of my hair. Because my hair is a nightmare to deal with, I always feel like if I nail the hair, I can keep the makeup light. As always, I will be including before and after pictures. Natural light only, no flash and, I will not be using a straightener. My hair looks like “@ffhqhq@” because I have been wearing it up in a bun for the past three days. It is just too damn hot in London and I honestly could not be bothered. Here is my hair before the shampoo. As you can see, it is looking a bit dry and the color looks dirty. Is it just me ? That’s one …

How to mix & apply Henna for Hair ( with Pictures )

Hello Beautiful people, It was very hot in Paris yesterday so my sister and I decided to treat ourselves to a nice Henna session. I tried to document the messy process as much as possible for you and hope this would help if you ever decide to give Henna a try. The pictures were all taken in the afternoon, in broad day light and without a flash or a special camera. I tried to make the process as simple as possible because I know how overwhelming the whole thing can be when you are just starting. I usually use coconut oil & castor oil, essential oil, sometimes water infused with black tea but this time, I kept it easy and quick. I used a mix of two hennas, organic hibiscus powder and boiling water. Nothing less, nothing more, just the basic beginner pack. Henna can leave stains on your skin and clothes so be careful. If you plan on doing your Henna, make sure you have a bunch of old towels by your side, do it in …

Make Your Own Shampoo

Hey everyone ! I hope you are all doing amazing. Today is Wednesday and I am just beyond excited. I love being back in Paris because I can shop and turn my home into a spa with my sister. She always takes great care of her hair AND has also recently decided to throw away all of her makeup and replace it with cruelty-free brands  which made me very happy. I am glad that she read my article about it and I also recommended her a video that really shook me up : Gigi Hadid’s Beauty Secret . The video is under one minute and free of graphic content if you feel like checking it out. Yesterday was a sunny day in Paris and we went to our favorite store to buy some well-deserved hair care products. Among the products, we also bought everything you need to build your own shampoos. My sister is definitely the expert and got every girl in the family into it. I ended up making three shampoos for my sister and I with essential oils. Here is …

How to loosen your curls naturally

It took me a long time to appreciate my hair and especially my curls. Growing up, I was surrounded by straight hair and thought that it was the female ideal ( thank you stupid fashion magazines ). I thought that my hair was ugly and that I could never do anything with it. It was always too thick or too curly, too black, too frizzy. The list goes on. If you do not know what my hair looks like, you can have a look at my Eyeem account. You can see my hair evolution and the change of color with Henna. Whilst I do love my curls now and appreciate how beautiful curly hair is,  I still use some of my 100% natural tips and tricks to loosen my curls from time to time. It is more about changing my style rather than trying to fix what I  used to consider a flaw. Just for the record, my hair type was a 3B when I was little and is now between 3A – 2C. I will include a …

5 Oils for Healthy Hair

The best decision you will make is to ditch chemicals and go organic.  The best way for me to do so, without giving up on my beauty routine, was to switch my drugstore beauty products for  unrefined oils and butters. What I like about oils and natural butters is that you can mix them with your shampoos, your makeup, your homemade facial masks and beauty recipes.. The ones I use are 100% natural and a great investment if you are on a tight budget like me. I do use the 5 oils that I have listed down below.  I mix them with a natural shampoo base or my henna or use them when I want to detangle my curly hair or prevent and fight summer dryness. I have talked about it before but I buy all my oils and hair products online on Aromazone or Amazon mostly. Castor Oil Perfect to strengthen your hair naturally, it also increases hair and eyelashes growth. A little goes a long way and a 100 ml will last a long time. I do not use …

Best Cruelty-Free MakeUp brands

I do not know if it’s because I wasn’t paying attention when I was younger, but when I was growing up in Paris, the market for cruelty-free makeup seemed to be non-existent. I believe that you do not need to be vegetarian or vegan to buy cruelty-free makeup. This has nothing to do with your diet or lifestyle but should be an obvious step to take in order to reduce animal cruelty. I would also recommend that before you go to a drugstore to buy your makeup, you have a list ready of cruelty free products you want to buy.  I go out to buy make up every month and I like to ask questions. Most of the sales assistants I have spoken to (in Paris at least), will assure you that the brand is cruelty free without actually knowing for sure or understanding the meaning of it. If the brand is cruelty-free, it does not mean that their suppliers ( where they get the ingredients from ) do not test their products on animals. …

Where to buy your Henna ?

Like a lot of you out there, I love my hair and want to protect it. I have always refused to dye/bleach my hair. The craziest color I have had was probably a dark red which I got from mixing two different types of henna. I have been a henna addict for over 6 years now. I started experimenting with Henna when I was sixteen and my goal at first was only to brighten my color. After years and years of researching, I have definitely mastered the way to do henna for my hair. I went from having the messiest bathroom to applying my henna in 10 mins without spilling a drop. If you are thinking about switching to Henna, I recommend you think long and hard before do it because it will be harder to go back to permanent hair dyes. If you do not wish to make a mess or lack patience, Henna will be hard to get into but oh so worth it. Your hair will never be healthier, thicker or shinier. My …
