A new beginning?

Hi everyone, I don’t even know how to start this post really. I could apologise for being absent and shutting down the blog for a while but the truth is, I needed the break. If you follow me on Twitter, you probably already know. I’m moving back to Paris. This decision, whilst very sudden, was part mine, part things I wish I had more control over. But dwelling is never an option. So I guess this post is a good representation of what I’m feeling right now. Half mourning what I’m leaving behind but also hopeful for a better future. I am however very happy to have my big, sunny kitchen back and no more access to Deliveroo. It means more recipes, pictures and happy food for you and me. I also lost access to my old instagram account so I created a new one. I’ll be posting photos very soon so feel free to follow me: If we talked before, I’d love to have you back into my life so please drop by ūüíõ! …

Is SKINNY DIP Makeup Cruelty-Free?

Hi Everyone, How are you? How is life? How is work? How is school? So many questions! So little time! So much makeup! So little money! If you are not familiar with SKINNY DIP, the brand is relatively similar to Missguided and ASOS as it targets the same type of customers and sells everything from clothes to lifestyle items, stationery and of course makeup. I recently discovered that they sell their own lip paint, eye palette, highlighters. So you know me, I HAVE to ask: Is SKINNY DIP naughty?¬† Or nice? When you click on Matte Lip Paint, here is what you get:   As you can see from the screenshot, under “details” the website lists the product as cruelty-free. Now, whilst I find this to look like a random add-on, I am optimistic! Let’s look at another product, the Glowing Out Palette: Notice the difference? No mention of cruelty-free for this one. Not under “details” and “ingredients”.¬† Thinking that it was just a tiny mistake, I decided to look at another product’s description. Here …

Skincare Christmas Gifts: Cruelty-free edition

Hi Everyone, I hope you are all well. I know I don’t need to remind you that Christmas is coming and that gift sets are literally EVERYWHERE. ALSO BLACK FRIDAY!!! WHO’S WITH ME???? (by¬†the time you read this, I’ll be broke) Since you guys have decided that this month is all about makeup and pretty things, I have selected for you, skin care gift sets which are actually worth offering this Christmas. PS: I am not using affiliate links. All the brands¬†below are brands that I love and personally use. Skincare¬† – Under ¬£25 gifts I am a creature of habit when it comes to skincare. I use Nip + Fab, B Skincare, The Body Shop, Rituals and Sister & Co. I stay away from Garnier, L’Oreal, Simple and luxury skincare in general. The Body Shop Tea tree rescue kit – ¬£20¬† The tea tree line is one of my favorite.¬† It doesn’t dry my skin and help me get rid of any imperfections in a day or two. I know I sound like an …

Is Missguided cruelty-free?

Hi you guys, I hope you are all doing fantastic. I was browsing Missguided website today and stumbled upon their beauty page.¬† I ended up looking at their contour kits and makeup sets and you know me, I had to know if Missguided makeup was safe to buy. Looking at the product description and their FAQ, it looks like I wouldn’t find the answer on their website.   Which is always a bad sign if you ask me. I applaud Missguided and its effort to not photoshop the models and I understand that the brand is primarily¬†clothes oriented. However, more information on their own makeup line would be a positive thing (duh). So I opened a new page and asked Google: “Tell me, is Missguided makeup cruelty-free?” Here is what I got: A Pamela Anderson interview. No mention of cruelty-free anything but she says and I quote: “I love that Missguided is vegan“ A Cosmopolitan article about the launch¬†but no mention of cruelty-free or vegan makeup. Another Cosmopolitan article about vegan makeup but no mention …

4 cruelty-free glosses for every budget

Hey everyone, I hope you are all doing okay. I am pleased to announce that¬† “cruelty-free makeup and skincare reviews” have yet again gotten the most votes from you guys.¬† For those of you who are sick and tired of my rambling thoughts on cruelty-free everything, I plan to write a weekly blog post about my running progress. IF you still don’t give a damn, I’ll see you in January ( ūüė¶¬† ). I remember glosses being the first makeup item my mom allowed me to purchase back when I was 14. I bought my first one at Claire’s, wore it twice, decided it wasn’t for me and upgraded to black eyeliner. Looking back on it now, I realize that I mostly justified my opinion because I wanted to wear my hair down and the gloss obviously prevented that (silly 14 years old me). The cruelty-free glosses you will find below are from Makeup Revolution, Colourpop and Fenty Beauty. The more expensive – ¬£10 and up budget – Gloss Bomb Universal Lip Luminizer¬† This was …

Running again & Happy November

Hello everyone, I know it’s been a while since I’ve posted but life is catching up with me.¬† I had to cancel two Halloween posts which I thought were boring and since then, I haven’t had the chance to write (this is me trying to apologise for my absence, how am I doing?). I guess what I am asking is, what would you like to see from me next?? I’ve been focused on writing about horror movies lately but I understand that more than half of my readers have no interest in it. The poll below will determine what you will see on my blog this month. I am open to suggestions of course and even challenges! Talking about challenges, I am running again! I’ve signed up with Samsung Health and will be trying out their “Couch to 5K” program. If you would like me to document my journey, let me know. I ran 5 times a week before I moved to London and whilst I wasn’t the best, I still managed to get a …

Vegan Zucchinis & Red Peppers soup

Hello, Hello, Hello! I hope you are all having a fantastic day, wherever you are. By the time you’ll read this, I’ll be at the hospital getting rid of my wisdom teeth. So in honour of the incoming days without solid food, here is a little vegan soup I made a week ago. For this recipe you will need: A pan full of cut zucchinis A pan full of peppers two tablespoons of curry powder 25 ml of soya cream One cup of water Spices of your choice – I went for roasted garlic, salt and oregano Optional: croutons and grilled garlic bread Throw your cut zucchinis and peppers in boiling water. Wait until soft and add a spoonful of olive oil. In a blender, add the vegetables, the soya cream, your spices and your cup of water. Mix it all until the soup is creamy. Add the curry powder, mix it all again and you’re done! Don’t forget to serve right away as homemade soups unless left in a pan tend to go cold …

The Best Horror movies of 2017 (so far)

Hey everyone, I hope you are all doing okay. I am doing fantastic. September and October are my favourite months. I am not a fan of pumpkin flavoured stuff but I do love the weather, homemade soups, fluffy coats and Halloween (I know, how many times do I have to tell you, right?) So in honour of the end of September and the beginning of the fantastic month of October, here is a list of horror movies you shouldn’t sleep on this year. IT¬† Do I even have to introduce this classic to you guys? ¬†An evil space creature comes out of the sewers every 27 years to terrorise children and feed on their fears. A must watch if you like horror movies, Stephen King, if you liked Strangers Things and want to see Finn Wolfhard in something else. Or maybe you can’t do horror without a touch of comedy. This one is for you.   IT COMES AT NIGHT Two families, a secluded cabin in the wood, a potential devastating disease and a red …

Why my weight gain isn’t a sign of weakness

Hi Everyone, I thought I would do a little me update today.  This is going to be short and sweet but I wanted to let you guys know that I am doing okay. Whilst PCOS does not have a treatment per say, I have been trying out different medications and taking care of myself . The first pill I was on, whilst it helped with some of the symptoms, made me gain weight, no matter how healthy I was eating and the hours of exercise each week. But for the first time, whilst it is the heaviest I have ever been and looked (I am a size 12 now), this weight gain, which would have destroyed my self-esteem a couple of years ago, hasn’t been affecting me. I know it’s silly but I am proud of looking the way I do because I am healthy (or getting there I guess) and in charge.  So far, I have seen three gynaecologists, two hormones specialists, one nutritionist and I won’t stop until I found what’s best for me …

4 cruelty-free blushes

Hi Everyone, I hope you are doing well. I know I said it before but I finished uni and I am finally looking for a job in London. It has been two very exciting years of non-stop working, studying, writing and I am more than ready to embrace new challenges. I will (hopefully) be on my way to interviews very soon and ¬†today, I decided to have a look at my makeup collection. Looking the part is important but wearing a blush to mask my anxiety, a must. Below you will find the blushes I have been loving and wearing all summer long. They are all cruelty-free, pigmented and rather cheap. PS: This is not a first impression, the blushes have been used over and over again and may appear dirty. They are not, it’s just love. From left to right: Makeup Revolution Powder Blush – TREAT – ¬£1.00 Makeup Revolution Blush Palette – BLUSH QUEEN – ¬£6.00 Lottie London Blush – CRUSH HARRY – ¬£4.99 The Body Shop Fresh Sorbet Blush – FLORIDA SUNSTAR …

Is Fenty Beauty cruelty-free?

Hi Everyone, I am back! After 2-3 excruciating months of dissertation writing, I finally have time to write for the blog. I want to thank all of you for answering the survey and not giving up on me. It may not mean much to some of you but the fact that the blog still gathered over 1300 visitors per month whilst inactive blows my mind. Now on to the fun stuff. If you are interested in the beauty world, you’re on social media or simply a fan of Rihanna, you know that her makeup line dropped at the end of last week. I did not plan on buying anything at first. The highlight of her makeup line seemed to be the impressive foundation’s range which I haven’t been wearing for months. However, whilst at Sephora in Paris, I couldn’t help but be attracted to the packaging and decided to check out the displays. Naturally, I then took to google and Twitter to find out if Fenty Beauty is cruelty-free and here is what I found: …

I need your help!

Hi Everyone, I hope you are all doing okay. I am so sorry to finally get back to you with a request but I truly need your help. As you know, I am three weeks away from turning in my masters dissertation. However, in order to hand it out, I have to get answers to my research study on consumers motivations to buy and fashion apps. I have created the little survey below which will take you under 5 mins to complete. I would be so thankful if you could take the time to complete it! Consumer Purchase Intention & Fashion Apps Thanks again for all your help and feel free to share if you can, it would mean the world to me. Kisses, Ali

Taking a break

Hi Everyone, I hope you are all doing okay. I am taking a break from blogging at the moment. Not because I want to but because I have to for the sake of my studies. I have two months left before I need to turn in my master’s dissertation and I can’t fuck it up now. I’ll try to start writing for the blog again in two weeks or so. I do miss reading your comments and testing cruelty free products but I owe it to myself and my parents to nail this ddissertation. Lots of kisses, Ali

One Sweet Sweet Summer Tart

Hi Everyone, I hope you are all doing well. Here I am, with another recipe. For this one, you will need: White peaches (I used 5) 2 red apples Half a bowl of strawberry A spoonful of lemon juice Shortcrust pastry (1) Optional: a spoonful of cane sugar Cut all your fruits, it doesn’t need to be pretty, it just needs to be small. Put them all in a bowl together with the lemon juice and the sugar if you wish to use it. Be careful tho, the three fruits together are very sweet so it will depend on how sugary you like your desserts. For the crust, I did my usual routine, pierced little tiny holes with a fork all over the bottom, cooked it for 10 mins alone in the oven. Fruits together release a lot of liquid and you want to make sure that your bottom is not soggy. Once the crust was ready, I added the fruits, put the tart in the oven on 190¬į for 25 mins. I like to …

What I ate in Paris: Vegan & Vegetarian

Hi Everyone, How are you all doing? FYI, the post is entirely made of pictures of food. I try to cook most of my meals and take advantage of my parents’ beautiful kitchen as much as I can. PS: of course I haven’t photographed ALL of my meals. The pictures below are just a tiny sample of what I made for myself and my family, from my week in Paris. What have you been up to? Ali

My summer skincare routine feat B.Skincare & The Body Shop

Hi Everyone, Welcome to another random post for this lovely month of June. I hope you are all doing fantastic. I am flying to Barcelona very soon so I thought that it was about time I share with you, my cruelty-free summer skincare routine. Here is what I use every day (pretty much): The Body Shop – TEA TREE Skin Clearing Foaming Cleanser B.skincare Hyaluronic Acid Facial Spritz B.Skincare – B.Confident night serum B.Skincare -Antioxidant Boost Facial Oil Rituals – Organic White Lotus & Yi Yi Ren body cream I start my day with The Body Shop Cleanser. I used to have an exfoliator thing you find for next to nothing at Boots and Superdrug but this foaming cleanser is actually softer and more respectful to my skin. Once the first step is completed, I dry my face and move on to my moisturiser. If you follow the blog, you know that I’ve been trying out some B.Skincare products. I absolutely love them which is why I have also included the brand in my giveaway …

Sweet Tofu with Noodles & Vegetables

Hi Everyone, I hope you are all doing fantastic. I have another recipe for you! I am sure I haven’t invented anything but I wanted to share with you what I managed to create with leftovers a week ago or so. I had a really hard time for some reasons to find the Tofu in Carrefour ( an equivalent of Asda I guess in France) but the rest of the ingredients was patiently waiting for me at home. For this quick & easy summer lunch you will need: Agave syrup: two soup spoons Sesame seeds: one coffee spoon Tofu: I used 250g for my sister and me Noodles: Rice noodles would be ideal in my opinion (but I used egg noodles) Salt&P, some crushed garlic, a drizzle of olive oil Soy sauce Peppers: mine were already cooked (we used 2) Onions: one is more than enough I cooked my sliced peppers and my onion together with the spices, olive oil and a glass of water for about 15 mins. Whilst the vegetables were cooking, I …

Horror Movies I just watched

Hi Everyone, I hope you are doing okay. I love horror movies. You must be all sick of hearing me talk about them but I just have to share. Whilst some of them are very good, most suck and do not deserve your time. So let me help you out and show you the movies I’ve watched and liked since my last horror movie related post. The Wailing¬† This movie is incredible and it is now available on Netflix. It is long (around 2h30 mins) but it builds the tension so beautifully that you will want to know what’s up in this village. PS: I think the ending will blow your mind. The Void Great main character, good monster thingy but if you do not like gory and graphic horror movies, I would save this one for later. This movie is completely different from the Wailing and will make you question everything you know about the world you live in. The Autopsy of Jane Doe This movie was the creepiest of them all for me …

June & the Blog: Picking items for the Giveaway

Hi Everyone, I hope you are all doing amazing. I am currently in Paris visiting my family and friends and I thought that it was the perfect time to finally announce¬†when the giveaway would be happening and give you a chance to choose (from the list of items I have talked about before on the blog) what you would like in it. I am pushing back the giveaway to the end of June because I have tons of stuff to do in Paris, I have to start my dissertation, I will be leaving for Barcelona in about two weeks and I want to make sure I buy products that are in line with what I like, what you would like and my blog. The giveaway will be open for one week and all of Europe. To participate, you will just have to be subscribed¬†to my blog and comment anything under the giveaway post. I wish I could include more of you. Hopefully, some future changes will allow me to do so. I was initially thinking …

Easy Green Lentil soup with Garlic Toasts

Hi Everyone, I know that this month is dedicated to cruelty-free beauty but this recipe is so tasty and easy that I needed to share it with you. You will need: A pack of brown lentils Mushrooms Red onions Tomatoes Whole wheat bread or an old baguette Olive oil Spices of your choice (I added chili, soy sauce & pepper) Garlic Olives (optional, I just love them) In a large pan, bring your water to a boil. Add a spoonful of olive oil and your lentils. In my experience, brown lentils tend to take a little more time to cook than red lentils for example. Once my lentils are half-way there, I add my chopped mushrooms (an entire pack) and two sliced red onions. I usually cover the pan¬†for the last 10 mins of cooking and get my toasts ready. If you have a¬†clove of garlic, chop it, mix it with a spoonful¬†of olive oil, salt&pepper and spread it on a piece of your baguette (or sliced bread). Put your slices in the oven until …

Sephora cruelty-free list: A-J

Hi Everyone, How are you? This post will be in two parts as I have other posts I want to write before the end of the month (and going through the whole damn website also takes ages). Let’s just get into it, shall we! Amazing Cosmetics Official statement:¬†AmazingCosmetics has always maintained a commitment to being cruelty-free, and has never tested any of its ingredients or finished products on animals. BUT, and I know that it can be a big but for some. The company sold its products in China until 2015. However, the brand decided to discontinue its line in China and consider itself 100% cruelty-free now. Vegan products:¬†Check products in store as the website does not provide any information. Amore Pacific Official Statement:¬†AMOREPACIFIC has voluntarily discontinued animal testing on cosmetic ingredients and finished goods since 2008. And as of May 1, 2013, we expanded the non-animal testing policy to our suppliers. AMOREPACIFIC brand is sold in Hong Kong, not in mainland China. Read more at Cruelty Free Kitty At Amorepacific, developing safe and healthy …

Spring 2017 MakeUp: Keeping it simple

Hey Everyone, I hope it is not too late to make a little spring makeup essential. I have been working on reducing the amount of makeup (and packaging) I wear. I want to focus on skincare more as summer is approaching (too fast) and the sun will damage my skin big time (just doing a little prevention you know). So lately I have been keeping it simple. Mascara, red lips and a touch of highlight. It has been amazing to let my skin “breathe” and let’s be honest, a touch of red on the lips always make you look put together. Here is what I have been using pretty much every day for the past months: Aromazone Mica Poudre D’or ¬†(¬£2.10) KIKO Eyebrow Wax Fixing Pencil (¬£5.90) E.L.F Aqua Beauty Gel Lip Stain in Rouge Radiance (¬£4.00) Barry M Matte Me Up (POP UP) (¬£4.99) The Body Shop Lip Balm in Honey Bronze (¬£6.00) Rituals Hand Balm: Indian Rose & Sweet Almond Oil (sample but the big bottle costs ¬£9.50) I talked about the …

Superdrug cruelty-free makeup 2017

Hi Everyone, How are you? I said I would do Sephora after Boots¬†but Sephora will take a lot more time as I want to do skincare as well. ¬†Fingers crossed I’ll be done with it by the end of this month. I hope this list will help some of you out. As always, I am not a reference at all in terms of cruelty-free makeup. I am mostly writing this post as a reminder that cruelty-free makeup is everywhere and not as expensive as people like to say. PS: I have tried to leave the one I have even the smallest doubt about (could be lack of official statement, a blogger contacting them or PETA and getting a standard/vague answer) Let’s just jump into it! Barry M Official statement:¬† Here at Barry M, we love cosmetics but we love animals too. Beauty with compassion has been at the heart of our company since 1982 so that‚Äôs why we‚Äôre proudly supporting Humane Society International‚Äôs global Be Cruelty-Free campaign, the largest campaign in history to achieve a …

What is happening in May?

Hi Everyone, How are you all doing? So I just wanted to pop on here to let you know what I will be working on in May for the blog. April, as you all know, was voted Month of the Food so I tried to deliver as many pictures as I could. 3 recipes were posted on the blog and I tried to show you on Instagram what I was eating every day. This month is going to be a bit different. I will be working on a Superdrug cruelty-free makeup post, a Sephora one, a review of The Body Shop new masks line and an updated list of new lipsticks/liquid lipsticks I have been loving lately. I will also (most probably) talk to you guys about my cruelty-free skincare routine (and no, Simple will not be included ;)). The blog also reached 1,000 something followers in April! I will also talk about this in another post, towards the end of May as I want to organise a little giveaway for you guys. The giveaway …

My favorite Guillermo Del Toro movies (directed or produced)

Hi Everyone, How are you today? I was sitting at home trying to write my essay when I got distracted. You see, I love everything horror related and Guillermo Del Toro has always given me what I wanted in terms of visual effects, storylines, characters, etc. He creates such beautiful movies that I would like to share with you my top 5. There is no ranking per say, I love them for different reasons and I couldn’t bring myself to place one above the others. Pan’s Labyrinth & The Devil Backbone I had to write about them together because they both made me terribly sad. In terms of horror, The Devil Backbone is definitely (in my opinion), scarier than Pan’s Labyrinth because of the history behind the story and its “realness”. Pan’s Labyrinth is one of those movies that I had to re-watch to fully take in what actually happened. And to this day, I am not even sure. I think I talked about it before on the blog actually but it is worth mentioning …

My Karaoke Playlist

Hi Everyone, I haven’t done a playlist in such a long time!¬† You know how obsessed I am with music and the other night, I had a karaoke session with my Snapchat. So I’ve decided to share with you, my 100 top Karaoke songs. I’ll include a complete list of the playlists I’ve already done. Valentine‚Äôs Day Playlist because I love you (and because I am the Queen of cheesy playlists) My little Christmas Playlist Music to overcome self-pity Ride the tube in music Saying Goodbye and Cozy Sunday Playlist Road Trip Playlist My Kind of Playlist The Positive Vibes Playlist 10 Songs To Dance To While You Cook Lots of Kisses Alicia

Is Primark make up‚Äč cruelty-free?

Hi Guys, I hope you are all doing okay. When I was in Bournemouth, I needed a quick lipstick to go to dinner and I honestly didn’t feel like spending an enormous amount of money (not that I usually do but you know what I mean). I went to Superdrug and almost bought another Barry M liquid lipstick (I already have the bundle) when I thought, why not check out Primark. I knew Primark had makeup and in my mind it was cruelty-free. So on my way there, I checked the web for an answer and here is what I found: Primark does not conduct and does not commission any animal testing. Our terms of trade with suppliers make it clear that cosmetic products and their ingredients must not be tested on animals. Following concerns about animal welfare and the use of angora in clothing, the company has ceased ordering all products that contain angora. So I bought their ¬£3.00 liquid lipstick kit in the shade “Chocolate Brownie”, similar in terms of color to my …

April Poll and An update

Hi Everyone, I hope you are all doing okay. I wanted to sit down and talk to you about the coming months on the blog. I will give it to you straight: I will have to take some time off. I wanted to schedule posts to keep the blog alive but it’s gonna depend on how I am feeling and the amount of work I’ll have to do for my exams. I will try to write one blog post a week and we will, of course, celebrate my one year blog anniversary (coming up very soon). But with my Master’s dissertation, my schedule will have to change. I am passionate about everything customer and marketing related and this dissertation is what I need to gain some credibility work wise. So I am asking you guys, what do you want to see on the blog this month? I figured that since I would post once a week, I could go back to doing what I was doing when I first started: “A week without” or fun …

A day and a half in Bournemouth

Hi Everyone, How are you? I said I would have this post up by the end of the week and I do! I finally managed to find time to sit down on Friday night and gather all the pretty pictures I took last weekend. Bournemouth was actually a surprise from me to my boyfriend. I wanted to do something nice before our busy exam period (coming up in two weeks until the end of May) and a quick trip next to the sea sounded like the perfect idea. I found the hotel on lastminute.com, booked the cheapest bus tickets I could find and we left around noon on Friday morning. The bus trip was relatively pleasant, 2h45 mins which felt like half an hour since I spent most of the ride sleeping. The Hotel is located a short walk away from the coach station (15 mins to 20 mins if you take your time), 5 mins away from the beach and 10 mins away from the city center. I was very excited to stay …

A tiny Flying Tiger Haul

Hi Everyone, How are we doing? Did you like the 7 days challenge? I honestly am glad it is over. Blogging is definitely a weekend thing for me. Before I publish my monthly update article with our little poll, I thought I’d show you what I got whilst I was in Bournemouth (post coming about the hotel in 3 days). It has become our tradition to go to Flying Tiger every time we visit a new town. I have no idea why. It started when we went to Bath last year for my birthday and since then, every time we see a Flying Tiger, we go in and buy something. This time, we kept it light and bought things that were relevant to us at the time. The first thing I saw in the store was this big black bag for ¬£1.00 next to the makeup section. I love everything black and everything about this “pochette” which I find extremely convenient. The second thing I saw was the massage ball which I had to buy …

Last Day of the challenge: The confessional

Hi Everyone, It is finally here. The day I reveal some of my secrets to you guys. I honestly don’t know where to start. Does it have to be serious? Can it be about anything? Do you guys want to know specific things about me? I’ll just write down 5 things I think are very personal down below and if you have any burning questions, the comment section is always open. I like to do my number 2 in complete darkness. I know this is weird. I’ll just leave it at that. 2. I am terrified of death I can’t stomach people talking about death. I know it sounds selfish but I have the hardest time dealing with death. I don’t cry at funerals and I pretty much stay in denial until a tremendous¬†amount¬†of time later, I realize that the person is gone. I do not sleep on my back because I’m scared of sleep paralysis It might surprise you guys and frankly, I don’t even know if the way you sleep increases your chances …

Day 5: The things I wish I had done differently

Hi Everyone, I have to apologize for yesterday’s post going up so late (in London it was almost midnight when I published it). I had a challenging day at uni and when I got home, I went straight to bed for a nap but ended up waking up 4 hours later. Today we are talking about the things I wish I had done differently. I have given it some thought and even if lately, I haven’t had any regrets, I managed to find 3 things that I could have done differently or taken care of sooner. ¬†Going vegetarian You live and you learn. I am so so glad that I finally got to make this connection but I thought about doing it long before I finally did. And honestly, I think I was just making excuses and trying to relativise what I now find so natural. So yes, I wished I had gone vegetarian sooner but who knows, maybe I wouldn’t have felt like sharing my journey to you guys. Listen to my parents Especially …

Day 4: I am grateful for

Look at little 19 years old me, so naive and stupid. Hi Everyone, day 4 is finally here! I am running out of pictures for my thumbnails as you can see. I am generally grateful for a lot of things but I’ve decided to tell you what I have been grateful for today. The family cat came home! This cat is my baby (although he is like 15 years old). He was initially the neighbor’s cat but we noticed that as soon as they got two dogs, they abandoned Tequila (yes, his name is Tequila) and he was left on his own most of the time. From there, we started feeding him every day, soon bought him everything necessary for him to be comfortable at ours and he kinda naturally moved in. We took him to the vet several times, took care of him and he would always sleep with me at night and wander our garden during the day. But last October, he disappeared (at this point, we had been taking care of him …

Best and Worst Habits

Day 3 of the 7-day challenge is here! Since it is hard to spot exactly what are your best and worst habits, I have asked my friends and my boyfriend to tell me what they think mine are. Here is what they said: Burping (guilty) Leaving the hoover unplug Dropping stuff in the shower (dropping stuff was the most recurrent one) Leaving the toothpaste without a cap on (yup) Always loosing my Oyster Card, complaining about it, buying a new one and coming home to find the old one chilling on the kitchen table. Vegetarianism (guess who?) “Your weak arms” (true) Pouring myself a liter of coffee in a mug every morning, drinking 1/5 of it Never ever taking out the trash (we have a system tho, I do the dishes and the laundry, he takes the trash out. So this one doesn’t count) Leaving my toothbrush in the shower Best habits Cooking something different pretty much every night Always looking after people My bathroom cupboard full of skincare products and face masks (you’re welcome …

Day 1: Get to know me better

Hi Everyone, Well, this is weird, finally doing a get to know me better post, after over half a year of blogging. Let’s just get into it! I never know to talk about myself so please bear with me. I think It is fair to talk about where I come from first before we get into who I am and what I do. I was born in France in the most amazing family. My mom is mixed-race from the Caribbean¬†and my dad is white from Italy. My parents are the sweetest and strongest human beings I know.¬† In a lot of ways, I am just like my dad. Quiet, sarcastic, always¬†deep in my thoughts and¬†sometimes socially awkward. I am also like my mom. Always ready for an adventure, passionate about movies, loves my gossips, confident and somewhat optimistic about my future. Add to the mix my own personality and you got yourself one confused introvert. I moved to London for an internship two years ago and ended up staying. London brings me something that Paris …

Little Life Update and our monthly poll

Hi Everyone, I hope you are all doing great. It is time for our little monthly poll. It gives you the chance to tell me what you want to see on the blog and gives me the opportunity to get closer to you guys and get to know you better. The blog is growing organically which makes me very happy. February was an interesting month for me. I got diagnosed¬†with PCOS, got to see Brighton for the first time, got to exercise more and hang out with my friends which I neglected¬†a bit in January. We also had our first guest poster, Kara, which I would like to thank again for her amazing article, her patience, and willingness to contribute to the blog. If you are wondering what I am talking about, here is her article. I am getting more comfortable in voicing my opinion on Twitter so if you want to join me over there and chit-chat, my timeline is all yours:¬†My Twitter. I know I suck at Instagram but I hate the whole …

My favorite vegetarian/vegan snacks

Hi Everyone, I hope you are doing well. Today is just going to be a quick post because I felt like sharing what I’ve been eating lately. I will post a quick and healthy recipe soon but in the meantime, I hope¬†this one gives you some ideas! I usually buy all my snacks at Tesco. Holland&Barrett, Planet Organic, Boots¬†snacks I bought were all impulse purchases. I don’t regret them,¬†don’t get me wrong, but¬†Tesco, and even my uni shop¬†have some great affordable vegan/vegetarian snack options. Eat Real Chips I know that you can find them at Wholefoods, H&B and Planet Organic. I have seen them over there for over a pound whilst my uni food shop sells them for ¬£0,49. Strong incentive for me to go to ALL my classes. Graze – Veggie Protein Powder This is what I eat before the gym or in the morning when I am in a rush. I have thought about purchasing bigger portions on Graze’s website but I like the ritual of going to Tesco, getting my bottle of …

Eating Disorders Awareness Week

Hi Everyone, It is Eating Disorders Awareness Week soon (Monday 27th February to 5th March).  I was diagnosed when I was 16. It took me around 5 years, two psychiatrists and countless therapy sessions to recover. By recover, I mean gain back the weight I lost and be okay with it. I will still have damaging thoughts from time to time but I have learned to silence them. One day, I will be able to share my story with you*. In the meantime, I send all my love to all men and women out there, wherever you are, fighting an eating disorder. I live in the UK so I have gathered phone numbers and places where you’ll be able to look for help if you want to: Beating Eating disorders: 0808 801 0677 & 0808 801 0711 Eating disorders support: 01494 793223 & support@eatingdisorderssupport.co.uk Eating disorder support service (SEED): (01482) 718130 Eating-disorders: 0845 838 2040 *I haven’t found the words to explain, in details, what I went through and how it felt. Talking about it alone is something very personal …

My favorite Central London vegan and vegetarian pizzas (so far)

Hi Everyone, Guess what? It is FOOD TIME. Yes!Finally! I had a great Veganuary, I cooked a lot and felt great. I have recently enjoyed my first pizza of February 2017 (because trust me, there will be many more) and I thought: “Hm, who do I want to share my love for pizzas with?” So here you go, just for you, the best pizzas you can get in Central London, that I have personally tested and loved. PS: I will make update posts as the list goes on but for now, as I live in Central London, I’ll focus on what you can get over there. FRANCO MANCA – PIZZA 1 AND PIZZA 2 I love love love, love love, Franco Manca. I have talked about it before¬†and I will not stop. I had both the vegetarian pizza and the vegan pizza without any added toppings. The crust and the dough are what makes their pizzas so f****** good. I don’t know how to describe it but the dough light in texture and strong in …

10 Totally achievable goals – 2017

Hi Everyone, I hope you are all doing alright. I was looking for an app for the gym, when I thought, what is so easy to do and easy to track? What is¬†easily achievable for me this year? You are welcome to add on to the list, make your own and tag me! Drink more water This one must be in everyone list every year but this time I feel like I can stick with it. I go to the gym more often and easily down 1L whilst exercising. I have also noticed that since I stopped drinking sodas, and drink alcohol every two weeks/three weeks, I naturally reach for water. Save money for my future self 23 years old is still young but I am already feeling a ton of pressure. I have started to think more and more about the future. And we all know that our future can be compromised if we lack money to do what we want. Take the time to Plan a proper vacation¬† Since I have been in …

Cruelty-Free: Why does it matter?

Hi Everyone, Our first guest post is here. Kara from The Book and Beauty Blog, wrote an interesting piece on cruelty-free cosmetics and skincare. Take the time to check out her blog if you are interested in the cruelty-free lifestyle, beauty and book reviews.¬† Why does buying cruelty-free cosmetics and skin care products matter? Most people know the difference between cruelty-free and not cruelty-free. One is obviously tested on animals while the other is not. For most, myself included, that is reason enough to strive to purchase only products not tested on animals. For others, they either don‚Äôt care or they don‚Äôt realize the extent of the harm done to these animals in laboratories. Over¬†100 million animals¬†are tested on in United States labs every year. These tests can burn, cripple, poison and kill the animals. The most popular animals for testing are mice, birds, and rabbits. However, dogs, cats, and monkeys are used as well. Mice and birds are popular because they are not covered under the Animal Welfare Act (AWA). The¬†AWA is a federal …

Going dark for Valentine’s Day 2017 – Cruelty-Free Lips

Hi Everyone, Happy Happy Happy Valentine’s day (way in advance). For V-day, I will be in Brighton. I will take the time to relax but also, hopefully, get enough pictures to do a hotel review for you guys. I had my collection of bright red lipsticks out in order to make this post and in the middle of my swatches, I decided to change everything and pick four dark lipsticks. I have been wearing really bright eye looks lately and I thought why not just pair a blue eyeliner or bright orange eyeshadow with darker lips for once. I know, for some of you, it’s not a big deal but I am super traditional when it comes to lipstick. I am so afraid to be tacky that I tend to follow stupid unspoken rules and stay in my lane. Anyway, enough BLABLA. Hope you like the colors I selected. I apologize in advance for the pictures, they looked better on my phone (still saving for a camera). NYX Lingerie – BEAUTY MARK I am a …

Promote your blog!

Hi Everyone, I hope you are all doing fantastic. I thought I would give you a little update. Two things made me want to write this blog post: A comment about the brand Simple A comment about veganism Simple has always been an eco-friendly brand, promoting healthy looking skins and natural-ish ingredients. At least, that is how I have always seen it. I went onto their website and was glad to see that they were cruelty-free. I have to admit, I took this information for granted and didn’t double check (which is something I usually do) to make sure I was passing on the right information to you guys. You know I am just getting into cruelty-free skincare and it is true that yes, I went with the stereotype: what is being promoted as natural must be cruelty-free, right? One of my lovely followers commented under this particular post:¬†My favorite cruelty-free skincare products (so far), to let me know that Simple was actually not cruelty-free. You know me, I am more than willing to have …

Best body washes, body scrubs, body everything for animal lovers (and everyone else) + 500 followers

I know, I know. This post should have gone up earlier this month.¬† I just have been a bit annoyed at myself for many reasons and haven’t been updating the blog much. For this, I apologize and I hope you won’t hold it against me. The blog has reached over 500 followers and I wanted to thank all of you for commenting, liking and getting to know me on here. I wish I could do a giveaway for you guys. Some of you have been here from the beginning and I see all of you! (but for real, do you want me to organize a giveaway?) Original Sources Body Washes I am sure, if you live in England, that you have come across¬†Original Source before. The brand is everywhere: Tesco – Boots – Superdrug. Every time I am out of Body Shop shower products, I run back to Original Source. Their shower gels are cheap (¬£1.80 with Tesco), you can find them anywhere in central London, and they are vegan. My favorite scents are Limes, …

Horror movies to be excited about this year

Hi Everyone, How are you? I know this kind of post is not for everyone so if you do not like (or just don’t care about)  horror movies, I’ll be posting a Valentine Day/cruelty-free lipstick special very soon. I don’t know about you guys, but in 2016, I saw some terrible horror movies. This year was complicated for me. I have watched so many horror movies that I am very black and white. I either love a movie or I hate it. In my opinion, here is the list of the 8 best horror movies of 2016:  The Witch  The Conjuring 2 The Boy  Before I wake Train to Busan  Don’t breathe  Hush Under the shadow And for the worst horror movies of 2016: Lights Out  The forest  Ouija: Origin of Evil  The Invitation The other side of the door The darkness Blair Witch  Pride and Prejudice and Zombies (a disgrace) Friend request  The Remains The purge: Election year (this one is debatable. Is it a horror movie really?) 31 and the list goes on. …

I Failed Veganuary already

Guys, I fucked up. You see, I have this amazing new Nescafe Dolce Gusto machine, offered by my good friend for Christmas. I love my coffee, a cup of black Americano without sugar every morning is all I need to start my day. When I got the machine, I admit that I went a little bit crazy and ordered 5 different types of capsules online. I see this machine as an amazing tool for my lazy ass but also a great way to show off when I have people over. And by showing off I mean: “Check out my awesome overpriced capsule collection. Get comfy, I’ll make you a Cappucino”. I know, ridiculous.  Well, yesterday, I failed. I woke up and in my state of morning grogginess, I turned on the machine, picked up a capsule of Latte Macchiato and pressed “fuck me up”. I drank all of it, got into the shower and realized what I had done. Instead of moving on, I decided that this day was ruined. I went ahead and grilled some …

My favorite cruelty-free skincare products (so far)

Hi Everyone, I want to do a full cruelty-free makeup routine soon¬†and I thought, why not show you some of my favorite skincare products first. I wanted to include bath & body products as well but I have so many that I will write a full post about it (probably before February). Let’s just jump into it, shall we? Simple Soothing Facial Toner & Revitalising eye roll-on I have, to be honest. I had never used toners before this one. I just did not see the point of using them. I was afraid that it would make my skin super dry. My forehead and chin are oily I am very dry around my mouth and nose. I don’t use the toner every day, more like three times a week, right before bed, and I do have noticed a difference. I don’t know if it is the work of the toner only, but my skin¬†looks younger and tighter. So If you are looking for a natural toner that will not damage your skin, try this one. …
