Sephora cruelty-free list: A-J

Hi Everyone, How are you? This post will be in two parts as I have other posts I want to write before the end of the month (and going through the whole damn website also takes ages). Let’s just get into it, shall we! Amazing Cosmetics Official statement: AmazingCosmetics has always maintained a commitment to being cruelty-free, and has never tested any of its ingredients or finished products on animals. BUT, and I know that it can be a big but for some. The company sold its products in China until 2015. However, the brand decided to discontinue its line in China and consider itself 100% cruelty-free now. Vegan products: Check products in store as the website does not provide any information. Amore Pacific Official Statement: AMOREPACIFIC has voluntarily discontinued animal testing on cosmetic ingredients and finished goods since 2008. And as of May 1, 2013, we expanded the non-animal testing policy to our suppliers. AMOREPACIFIC brand is sold in Hong Kong, not in mainland China. B. Skincare: Cruelty-Free and Affordable

Hi, you guys! How are you? I am very excited for this post! Finally, 100% cruelty-free skincare products (with the little bunny everywhere) that deserves to be talked about. I bet you all remember my huge flop post with the brand Simple. Today is the day I redeem myself and show you some real-ass cruelty-free skincare goodies that I have been using for about a month. B. is a certified cruelty-free brand. I was actually browsing Superdrug’s website when I stumbled onto B. I think that if after this post, if you consider looking into the brand, do your research online first as in stores, the products kinda get lost within the sea of brands available. What is interesting about B.skincare line is that you can either shop by age range or targeted solutions and cleansing. For example, you can choose from 20s to 30s (Phase 1), 30s (Phase 2), ect to 60s and beyond or scroll down to browse all their products. Naturally, I started with  20s to 30s. I picked up several products which I thought …

My favorite Guillermo Del Toro movies (directed or produced)

Hi Everyone, How are you today? I was sitting at home trying to write my essay when I got distracted. You see, I love everything horror related and Guillermo Del Toro has always given me what I wanted in terms of visual effects, storylines, characters, etc. He creates such beautiful movies that I would like to share with you my top 5. There is no ranking per say, I love them for different reasons and I couldn’t bring myself to place one above the others. Pan’s Labyrinth & The Devil Backbone I had to write about them together because they both made me terribly sad. In terms of horror, The Devil Backbone is definitely (in my opinion), scarier than Pan’s Labyrinth because of the history behind the story and its “realness”. Pan’s Labyrinth is one of those movies that I had to re-watch to fully take in what actually happened. And to this day, I am not even sure. I think I talked about it before on the blog actually but it is worth mentioning …

Is Primark make up cruelty-free?

Hi Guys, I hope you are all doing okay. When I was in Bournemouth, I needed a quick lipstick to go to dinner and I honestly didn’t feel like spending an enormous amount of money (not that I usually do but you know what I mean). I went to Superdrug and almost bought another Barry M liquid lipstick (I already have the bundle) when I thought, why not check out Primark. I knew Primark had makeup and in my mind it was cruelty-free. So on my way there, I checked the web for an answer and here is what I found: Primark does not conduct and does not commission any animal testing. Our terms of trade with suppliers make it clear that cosmetic products and their ingredients must not be tested on animals. Following concerns about animal welfare and the use of angora in clothing, the company has ceased ordering all products that contain angora. So I bought their £3.00 liquid lipstick kit in the shade “Chocolate Brownie”, similar in terms of color to my …

A day and a half in Bournemouth

Hi Everyone, How are you? I said I would have this post up by the end of the week and I do! I finally managed to find time to sit down on Friday night and gather all the pretty pictures I took last weekend. Bournemouth was actually a surprise from me to my boyfriend. I wanted to do something nice before our busy exam period (coming up in two weeks until the end of May) and a quick trip next to the sea sounded like the perfect idea. I found the hotel on lastminute.com, booked the cheapest bus tickets I could find and we left around noon on Friday morning. The bus trip was relatively pleasant, 2h45 mins which felt like half an hour since I spent most of the ride sleeping. The Hotel is located a short walk away from the coach station (15 mins to 20 mins if you take your time), 5 mins away from the beach and 10 mins away from the city center. I was very excited to stay …

Day 5: The things I wish I had done differently

Hi Everyone, I have to apologize for yesterday’s post going up so late (in London it was almost midnight when I published it). I had a challenging day at uni and when I got home, I went straight to bed for a nap but ended up waking up 4 hours later. Today we are talking about the things I wish I had done differently. I have given it some thought and even if lately, I haven’t had any regrets, I managed to find 3 things that I could have done differently or taken care of sooner.  Going vegetarian You live and you learn. I am so so glad that I finally got to make this connection but I thought about doing it long before I finally did. And honestly, I think I was just making excuses and trying to relativise what I now find so natural. So yes, I wished I had gone vegetarian sooner but who knows, maybe I wouldn’t have felt like sharing my journey to you guys. Listen to my parents Especially …

A day in my life: York

Hi Everyone, Day 2 of my challenge! I went to York last week and I thought that It was more interesting for you to read about York and the perfect hotel I stayed at rather than read about one of my typical day at uni. I went to York for a day and a half with my boyfriend. We arrived pretty early (for us) and went straight to the hotel to drop our bag and go explore. We had about 3 hours to kill before the afternoon tea and didn’t want to make the same mistake again (aka the time we went to Brighton and I stayed in to nap until dinner). The hotel is called Gray’s Court. It is located on a quiet street, behind the cathedral. Guys, I don’t even have the words to describe how beautiful this hotel is. A mix between old wood, mismatched furniture, lights, long corridors, maze-like manor. The rest of the day was uneventful. We walked around for two hours, grabbed a coffee and came back just in …

A night in Brighton – Drakes Boutique Hotel

Hi Everyone, I hope you are all doing fantastic. I didn’t stay long in Brighton. The trip was very last minute as we wanted to get away from London for a night. It was my first time in Brighton and whilst I didn’t see much, I appreciated the seaside, the fresh air and loved the hotel. After a 20 mins walk from Brighton station, we arrived at Drakes Hotel, sweaty and exhausted. The hotel faces the sea and is located roughly 5 mins away from the famous Brighton Piers. Whilst it looks modest on the outside, the inside is clean, modern and cozy. We immediately went to see the concierge on duty this afternoon. I don’t remember her name but she had a lovely smile, welcomed us to Brighton and showed us our room. I have to say that my boyfriend booked the room. I had no idea what it looked like. I just wanted a room facing the sea and crossed my fingers hard before she opened the door. She gave us a quick tour, said …

Best body washes, body scrubs, body everything for animal lovers (and everyone else) + 500 followers

I know, I know. This post should have gone up earlier this month.  I just have been a bit annoyed at myself for many reasons and haven’t been updating the blog much. For this, I apologize and I hope you won’t hold it against me. The blog has reached over 500 followers and I wanted to thank all of you for commenting, liking and getting to know me on here. I wish I could do a giveaway for you guys. Some of you have been here from the beginning and I see all of you! (but for real, do you want me to organize a giveaway?) Original Sources Body Washes I am sure, if you live in England, that you have come across Original Source before. The brand is everywhere: Tesco – Boots – Superdrug. Every time I am out of Body Shop shower products, I run back to Original Source. Their shower gels are cheap (£1.80 with Tesco), you can find them anywhere in central London, and they are vegan. My favorite scents are Limes, …

My first My little Box – December 2016

Hi Everyone !! I am so happy! First I would like to know. How are you? What have you been up to? I am still in Paris and I thought why not write this post to keep you guys updated on what has been going on. I have always been a fan of My little Paris and their boxes. I have a friend who has been subscribed for years and she loves it. I remember going to her place and checking out her boxes each month. I see ads for subscription boxes everywhere and I thought okay, it is time, try one. My main concern was the makeup to be completely honest. Since I have switched to cruelty-free only makeup ( skincare soon hopefully ),  I wanted to make sure that I would receive makeup products that I would actually use. I was also concerned about the price. My little box is exactly what I need and less expensive than my gym membership ( not sponsored by the way ). It costs £14.95, comes once …

The Cost of Cute: The Dark Side of the Puppy Trade – Review

Hi Everyone, Here is one documentary I can not wait to talk to you about. We all know that I love dogs ( they are in lots of my thumbnails ) and I do want to adopt one badly. However, I believe that animals are not accessories and I refuse to adopt a dog or a cat, as long as I live in a tiny flat in central London and I don’t have my shit together. The documentary was advertised to me on Instagram by Grace. I love what she does, I think she is a beautiful woman who is not afraid to speak up and always ready to share her life experiences with the world. Whilst I was a bit underwhelmed by her first documentary on Clean Eating ( you can have a look at my review here ), I am always ready to learn more about anything puppy related. My thoughts on what she said: Yes, social media is filled with dogs and you always see the same breeds. If I hang out on YouTube, I …

Amazon Pantry : Hit or Miss ?

Hi Everyone, I have something a bit different for you today. I ordered food with Amazon ! Not uncommon I know but I thought it would be a fun experience and I also wanted to compare the prices between my regular grocery shopping at Tesco and a regular grocery shopping with Amazon. To order with Amazon Pantry, you have to be subscribed to Amazon prime. From there, you have access to the amazon pantry with a good range of products from different supermarkets. This was the part I was most interested in because I mostly shop at Tesco. It is not the cheapest but it is convenient as I live in Central London and wouldn’t be caught dead walking more than 15 mins for groceries. Before we get into my Amazon pantry experience, I just wanted to give you a little reminder of what I usually buy. I spend between £30 to £35 on groceries a week. I buy mostly vegan/vegetarian products and lots of fresh and frozen fruits and vegetables. Amazon pantry does not offer vegetables, fruits …

Why Carrie from Sex and The City ruined my life

I have three best friends like Carrie. I myself have always identified with Carrie for the simple reasons that I’m not addicted to sex, not rich and not very posh like Charlotte. Although I do enjoy the company of men, love art and cherish my cat as much as Miranda, I thought that Carrie’s curly hair was way more relatable, and our shared passion for writing was a sign that her and I were meant to be. I started to watch every episode, taking notes of where she screwed up and how to prevent it as the perfect Carrie wannabe. I often pictured myself in the same situations as she was on screen. Would I have written about men and french fries ? Absolutely. Would I have gone on a date with a smoker who half burnt my face ? Maybe not.” I need two bathroom doors ” Carrie said, “Me too Carrie, Me too”, I screamed in my head, hoping that day will come where worrying about how many doors my bathroom has will be my …
