NYX, BarryM & SleekMakeUp giveaway

If you don’t know, I reposted the poll results on the blog a day or two ago and you guys voted for a cruelty-free makeup giveaway. So on my way back to Barcelona,  I ordered my 2016-2017 favourite makeup items for one of you to try. All of them, except one, are products that I frequently use and have featured on the blog. I heard great things about the new Sleek Makeup Distorted Dreams palette and thought that it would be a nice touch (why not jump on the holographic trend right?) The Rules: Be subscribe to the blog and leave a comment on this post That’s it. Two comments will not count as two entries since I want everyone to have a fair chance to win. This giveaway is open to people in Europe, I will contact the winner personally and provide tracking info once everything has been sent out. Make sure I …

What I ate in Paris: Vegan & Vegetarian

Hi Everyone, How are you all doing? FYI, the post is entirely made of pictures of food. I try to cook most of my meals and take advantage of my parents’ beautiful kitchen as much as I can. PS: of course I haven’t photographed ALL of my meals. The pictures below are just a tiny sample of what I made for myself and my family, from my week in Paris. What have you been up to? Ali

Sweet Tofu with Noodles & Vegetables

Hi Everyone, I hope you are all doing fantastic. I have another recipe for you! I am sure I haven’t invented anything but I wanted to share with you what I managed to create with leftovers a week ago or so. I had a really hard time for some reasons to find the Tofu in Carrefour ( an equivalent of Asda I guess in France) but the rest of the ingredients was patiently waiting for me at home. For this quick & easy summer lunch you will need: Agave syrup: two soup spoons Sesame seeds: one coffee spoon Tofu: I used 250g for my sister and me Noodles: Rice noodles would be ideal in my opinion (but I used egg noodles) Salt&P, some crushed garlic, a drizzle of olive oil Soy sauce Peppers: mine were already cooked (we used 2) Onions: one is more than enough I cooked my sliced peppers and my onion together with the spices, olive oil and a glass of water for about 15 mins. Whilst the vegetables were cooking, I …

June & the Blog: Picking items for the Giveaway

Hi Everyone, I hope you are all doing amazing. I am currently in Paris visiting my family and friends and I thought that it was the perfect time to finally announce when the giveaway would be happening and give you a chance to choose (from the list of items I have talked about before on the blog) what you would like in it. I am pushing back the giveaway to the end of June because I have tons of stuff to do in Paris, I have to start my dissertation, I will be leaving for Barcelona in about two weeks and I want to make sure I buy products that are in line with what I like, what you would like and my blog. The giveaway will be open for one week and all of Europe. To participate, you will just have to be subscribed to my blog and comment anything under the giveaway post. I wish I could include more of you. Hopefully, some future changes will allow me to do so. I was initially thinking …

Easy Green Lentil soup with Garlic Toasts

Hi Everyone, I know that this month is dedicated to cruelty-free beauty but this recipe is so tasty and easy that I needed to share it with you. You will need: A pack of brown lentils Mushrooms Red onions Tomatoes Whole wheat bread or an old baguette Olive oil Spices of your choice (I added chili, soy sauce & pepper) Garlic Olives (optional, I just love them) In a large pan, bring your water to a boil. Add a spoonful of olive oil and your lentils. In my experience, brown lentils tend to take a little more time to cook than red lentils for example. Once my lentils are half-way there, I add my chopped mushrooms (an entire pack) and two sliced red onions. I usually cover the pan for the last 10 mins of cooking and get my toasts ready. If you have a clove of garlic, chop it, mix it with a spoonful of olive oil, salt&pepper and spread it on a piece of your baguette (or sliced bread). Put your slices in the oven until …

Sephora cruelty-free list: A-J

Hi Everyone, How are you? This post will be in two parts as I have other posts I want to write before the end of the month (and going through the whole damn website also takes ages). Let’s just get into it, shall we! Amazing Cosmetics Official statement: AmazingCosmetics has always maintained a commitment to being cruelty-free, and has never tested any of its ingredients or finished products on animals. BUT, and I know that it can be a big but for some. The company sold its products in China until 2015. However, the brand decided to discontinue its line in China and consider itself 100% cruelty-free now. Vegan products: Check products in store as the website does not provide any information. Amore Pacific Official Statement: AMOREPACIFIC has voluntarily discontinued animal testing on cosmetic ingredients and finished goods since 2008. And as of May 1, 2013, we expanded the non-animal testing policy to our suppliers. AMOREPACIFIC brand is sold in Hong Kong, not in mainland China. Tofu Burger Recipe

Hi Everyone, How are you? Last recipe for a little while. I hope you like them. Let me know which one is your favorite (if you have one). For this recipe, you will need: Tofu Sweet peppers (two) Mushrooms Buns (brioche buns were the perfect fit) Cheese (optional, I grabbed my favorite vegan cheese, garlic&herb at Whole Foods) Rocket Salad Olives (optional, I just love them) I cut my mushrooms and my peppers, cooked them in sesame oil for about five mins. Grabbed my brioche buns and instead of warming them up in a pan like I usually do, I put them in my waffle maker. They turned out perfectly crispy I was so happy you guys! As you can see, the piece of Tofu I got from Whole Foods is HUGE (you get two of them in a box, already cooked and grilled for £2.99) and I just warmed it up with the vegetables. I believe the pictures are explicit enough and the whole thing doesn’t need a proper recipe. The garlic and herb …

Veggie Pasta Bake

Hi Everyone, I hope you are all doing great. Welcome to the second recipe of this three parts thingy I am doing right now on the blog. PS: I just wanted to address something quickly. I have been nominated for two blogging “awards” since I did my 7 days challenge. I wanted to thank everyone who took the time to nominate me and check out my blog. Whilst I don’t have time to do them all, it doesn’t go unnoticed and I’m more than grateful. For this recipe, you will need: Pasta Mushrooms (one box) Carrots (I used three) Shallots (one or two) Courgette (half of one) Alpro Almond Milk Unsweetened Mustard Cut your veggies, cook the mushrooms and shallot on the side and the carrots and courgette in water. Since everything is gonna go in the oven, I would suggest to not cook your pasta and mushrooms entirely. Since everything is gonna go in the oven, I would suggest to not cook your pasta and mushrooms entirely. Once everything is done, move on to the almond …

One easy Vegan Recipe

Hi Everyone, How are you all doing? I initially wanted to dedicate one post to three vegan recipes but it was honestly way too long. So I hope you don’t mind because you’ll be getting recipes for a week. I have been cooking more and more. I love grilled tofu, fake chicken, vegan cheese etc. We are a match in heaven. So I spent one week in March cooking every single night and I would like to share my three favorite recipes with you. Vegan Couscous You will need: Chickpeas (2 cans) Carrots (2) Courgette (1) Couscous (150g) Fake chicken (optional, can be replaced by tofu) Harissa Tumeric Cumin Tabasco Salt&Pepper So I cut all my vegetables first. Whilst I cooked them in water, I took my chickpeas (already cooked) and put them for 2 mins in the microwave. Once my vegetables were a bit softer, I added all my spices, except the Harissa and my chickpeas. I brought down the heat, covered it up and moved on to my fake meat and couscous. I threw the meat …

April Poll and An update

Hi Everyone, I hope you are all doing okay. I wanted to sit down and talk to you about the coming months on the blog. I will give it to you straight: I will have to take some time off. I wanted to schedule posts to keep the blog alive but it’s gonna depend on how I am feeling and the amount of work I’ll have to do for my exams. I will try to write one blog post a week and we will, of course, celebrate my one year blog anniversary (coming up very soon). But with my Master’s dissertation, my schedule will have to change. I am passionate about everything customer and marketing related and this dissertation is what I need to gain some credibility work wise. So I am asking you guys, what do you want to see on the blog this month? I figured that since I would post once a week, I could go back to doing what I was doing when I first started: “A week without” or fun …

Promote your lovely blog

Hi Everyone, How are you all doing? I said that I would do another PYB so here we are. The last “Promote your blog” was awesome. I got a bunch of comments, I met my first guest poster and followed some awesome new bloggers who I wouldn’t have met without the post. So as you know, there are no rules. You do not have to follow me on here or on Twitter or Instagram. If you want to promote your blog and yourself, feel free to write something down below with a link to your blog and I’ll check you out. I have been following a lot of cruelty-free makeup lovers and vegans on here. I would love to get to know more of you of course but if you (or know a blogger who) write about books, movies, and fitness, I’d love love love to hear from you (them) especially. I’ll keep it short and end it here. Remember, my email veggieoverseas@gmail.com is always open. As always, if you’re interested in writing for the blog, …

A day and a half in Bournemouth

Hi Everyone, How are you? I said I would have this post up by the end of the week and I do! I finally managed to find time to sit down on Friday night and gather all the pretty pictures I took last weekend. Bournemouth was actually a surprise from me to my boyfriend. I wanted to do something nice before our busy exam period (coming up in two weeks until the end of May) and a quick trip next to the sea sounded like the perfect idea. I found the hotel on lastminute.com, booked the cheapest bus tickets I could find and we left around noon on Friday morning. The bus trip was relatively pleasant, 2h45 mins which felt like half an hour since I spent most of the ride sleeping. The Hotel is located a short walk away from the coach station (15 mins to 20 mins if you take your time), 5 mins away from the beach and 10 mins away from the city center. I was very excited to stay …

Last Day of the challenge: The confessional

Hi Everyone, It is finally here. The day I reveal some of my secrets to you guys. I honestly don’t know where to start. Does it have to be serious? Can it be about anything? Do you guys want to know specific things about me? I’ll just write down 5 things I think are very personal down below and if you have any burning questions, the comment section is always open. I like to do my number 2 in complete darkness. I know this is weird. I’ll just leave it at that. 2. I am terrified of death I can’t stomach people talking about death. I know it sounds selfish but I have the hardest time dealing with death. I don’t cry at funerals and I pretty much stay in denial until a tremendous amount of time later, I realize that the person is gone. I do not sleep on my back because I’m scared of sleep paralysis It might surprise you guys and frankly, I don’t even know if the way you sleep increases your chances …

Day 6: If I could, I would

Hi Everyone, The end of the challenge is near! I will have to take a week of or two after this one because I’ll be studying non-stop for my essays and final exams. I will still be active on Twitter tho so don’t worry. Dozens of you have already joined me on there and it is nice to get to know you all a bit more. If I could, I would have never stopped running I don’t know what happened really. At some point, I was running 4 to 5 times a week, 45 mins to 1 hour. I think it was a mix of moving out of my parents’ place and living in the heart of London. I used to go running very early in the morning 6 am or late at night (9 to 10 pm). I don’t feel comfortable doing it here in London because it is always busy, I can’t run along the river and the parks are too far. I go to the gym now. And even if it is …

Day 5: The things I wish I had done differently

Hi Everyone, I have to apologize for yesterday’s post going up so late (in London it was almost midnight when I published it). I had a challenging day at uni and when I got home, I went straight to bed for a nap but ended up waking up 4 hours later. Today we are talking about the things I wish I had done differently. I have given it some thought and even if lately, I haven’t had any regrets, I managed to find 3 things that I could have done differently or taken care of sooner.  Going vegetarian You live and you learn. I am so so glad that I finally got to make this connection but I thought about doing it long before I finally did. And honestly, I think I was just making excuses and trying to relativise what I now find so natural. So yes, I wished I had gone vegetarian sooner but who knows, maybe I wouldn’t have felt like sharing my journey to you guys. Listen to my parents Especially …

Day 4: I am grateful for

Look at little 19 years old me, so naive and stupid. Hi Everyone, day 4 is finally here! I am running out of pictures for my thumbnails as you can see. I am generally grateful for a lot of things but I’ve decided to tell you what I have been grateful for today. The family cat came home! This cat is my baby (although he is like 15 years old). He was initially the neighbor’s cat but we noticed that as soon as they got two dogs, they abandoned Tequila (yes, his name is Tequila) and he was left on his own most of the time. From there, we started feeding him every day, soon bought him everything necessary for him to be comfortable at ours and he kinda naturally moved in. We took him to the vet several times, took care of him and he would always sleep with me at night and wander our garden during the day. But last October, he disappeared (at this point, we had been taking care of him …

Best and Worst Habits

Day 3 of the 7-day challenge is here! Since it is hard to spot exactly what are your best and worst habits, I have asked my friends and my boyfriend to tell me what they think mine are. Here is what they said: Burping (guilty) Leaving the hoover unplug Dropping stuff in the shower (dropping stuff was the most recurrent one) Leaving the toothpaste without a cap on (yup) Always loosing my Oyster Card, complaining about it, buying a new one and coming home to find the old one chilling on the kitchen table. Vegetarianism (guess who?) “Your weak arms” (true) Pouring myself a liter of coffee in a mug every morning, drinking 1/5 of it Never ever taking out the trash (we have a system tho, I do the dishes and the laundry, he takes the trash out. So this one doesn’t count) Leaving my toothbrush in the shower Best habits Cooking something different pretty much every night Always looking after people My bathroom cupboard full of skincare products and face masks (you’re welcome …

A day in my life: York

Hi Everyone, Day 2 of my challenge! I went to York last week and I thought that It was more interesting for you to read about York and the perfect hotel I stayed at rather than read about one of my typical day at uni. I went to York for a day and a half with my boyfriend. We arrived pretty early (for us) and went straight to the hotel to drop our bag and go explore. We had about 3 hours to kill before the afternoon tea and didn’t want to make the same mistake again (aka the time we went to Brighton and I stayed in to nap until dinner). The hotel is called Gray’s Court. It is located on a quiet street, behind the cathedral. Guys, I don’t even have the words to describe how beautiful this hotel is. A mix between old wood, mismatched furniture, lights, long corridors, maze-like manor. The rest of the day was uneventful. We walked around for two hours, grabbed a coffee and came back just in …

A night in Brighton – Drakes Boutique Hotel

Hi Everyone, I hope you are all doing fantastic. I didn’t stay long in Brighton. The trip was very last minute as we wanted to get away from London for a night. It was my first time in Brighton and whilst I didn’t see much, I appreciated the seaside, the fresh air and loved the hotel. After a 20 mins walk from Brighton station, we arrived at Drakes Hotel, sweaty and exhausted. The hotel faces the sea and is located roughly 5 mins away from the famous Brighton Piers. Whilst it looks modest on the outside, the inside is clean, modern and cozy. We immediately went to see the concierge on duty this afternoon. I don’t remember her name but she had a lovely smile, welcomed us to Brighton and showed us our room. I have to say that my boyfriend booked the room. I had no idea what it looked like. I just wanted a room facing the sea and crossed my fingers hard before she opened the door. She gave us a quick tour, said …

Little Life Update and our monthly poll

Hi Everyone, I hope you are all doing great. It is time for our little monthly poll. It gives you the chance to tell me what you want to see on the blog and gives me the opportunity to get closer to you guys and get to know you better. The blog is growing organically which makes me very happy. February was an interesting month for me. I got diagnosed with PCOS, got to see Brighton for the first time, got to exercise more and hang out with my friends which I neglected a bit in January. We also had our first guest poster, Kara, which I would like to thank again for her amazing article, her patience, and willingness to contribute to the blog. If you are wondering what I am talking about, here is her article. I am getting more comfortable in voicing my opinion on Twitter so if you want to join me over there and chit-chat, my timeline is all yours: My Twitter. I know I suck at Instagram but I hate the whole …

Easy Courgette Spaghetti

Hi Everyone, I hope you like this one because I was so proud when I put it together. You know that I advocate easy, quick recipes and late-night snacking. Ingredients: Courgette Spaghetti (Tesco) Oregano, Garlic, Soy Sauce, Crushed Chili Vegetable stock Olive oil Vegan sausages Truffle mustard As always, I love when I can just go my ingredients in a pan and serve a great dish 10 mins later. For this recipe, I started with throwing spaghetti and bean sprouts in a pan together with oregano, garlic, chili, a spoonful of olive oil and my vegetable stock. I added two glasses of water, covered the pan with a plate and moved on to my vegan sausages. My all time favorite, you may already know, are the vegan sausages from the Linda McCartney’s brand. I mixed soy sauce and mustard together. Dunk my sausages (4 out of the 6) in the mix and put them in the oven (180°) for 15 mins. This dish honestly takes 15 mins from start to finish. The spaghetti and bean sprouts …

My favorite vegetarian/vegan snacks

Hi Everyone, I hope you are doing well. Today is just going to be a quick post because I felt like sharing what I’ve been eating lately. I will post a quick and healthy recipe soon but in the meantime, I hope this one gives you some ideas! I usually buy all my snacks at Tesco. Holland&Barrett, Planet Organic, Boots snacks I bought were all impulse purchases. I don’t regret them, don’t get me wrong, but Tesco, and even my uni shop have some great affordable vegan/vegetarian snack options. Eat Real Chips I know that you can find them at Wholefoods, H&B and Planet Organic. I have seen them over there for over a pound whilst my uni food shop sells them for £0,49. Strong incentive for me to go to ALL my classes. Graze – Veggie Protein Powder This is what I eat before the gym or in the morning when I am in a rush. I have thought about purchasing bigger portions on Graze’s website but I like the ritual of going to Tesco, getting my bottle of …

My favorite Central London vegan and vegetarian pizzas (so far)

Hi Everyone, Guess what? It is FOOD TIME. Yes!Finally! I had a great Veganuary, I cooked a lot and felt great. I have recently enjoyed my first pizza of February 2017 (because trust me, there will be many more) and I thought: “Hm, who do I want to share my love for pizzas with?” So here you go, just for you, the best pizzas you can get in Central London, that I have personally tested and loved. PS: I will make update posts as the list goes on but for now, as I live in Central London, I’ll focus on what you can get over there. FRANCO MANCA – PIZZA 1 AND PIZZA 2 I love love love, love love, Franco Manca. I have talked about it before and I will not stop. I had both the vegetarian pizza and the vegan pizza without any added toppings. The crust and the dough are what makes their pizzas so f****** good. I don’t know how to describe it but the dough light in texture and strong in …

I Failed Veganuary already

Guys, I fucked up. You see, I have this amazing new Nescafe Dolce Gusto machine, offered by my good friend for Christmas. I love my coffee, a cup of black Americano without sugar every morning is all I need to start my day. When I got the machine, I admit that I went a little bit crazy and ordered 5 different types of capsules online. I see this machine as an amazing tool for my lazy ass but also a great way to show off when I have people over. And by showing off I mean: “Check out my awesome overpriced capsule collection. Get comfy, I’ll make you a Cappucino”. I know, ridiculous.  Well, yesterday, I failed. I woke up and in my state of morning grogginess, I turned on the machine, picked up a capsule of Latte Macchiato and pressed “fuck me up”. I drank all of it, got into the shower and realized what I had done. Instead of moving on, I decided that this day was ruined. I went ahead and grilled some …

I tried a vegan Galette des rois

Hi Everyone, I hope you are all doing amazing. If you don’t know, la galette des Rois is a tradition in France. We celebrate right after New Year’s Eve (another excuse to eat more). I tried to go to several French bakeries in London but couldn’t find anything. My original plan was to buy one galette for my friends and make a small one for myself (since I am doing Veganuary). I found this super cute french vegan blog with a recipe and I decided to give it a try. I will add the original recipe at the end of the post and try to translate it for you guys as best as I can. You will need: 2 puff pastry sheets (made without butter) 200g of crushed almond 40g of vegan butter 80g of sugar 60g of coconut oil (optional for me since I already had the vegan butter) 100g of soya cream 5 cL of soya milk (I used almond milk) The recipe is the easiest (I recognized I got rid of some stuff and added others). You …

Merry Christmas !

Hi Everyone, I know I am a bit late but I wanted to wish you all a wonderful Christmas. I had the chance to be with my family today and take the day off from work. I got some money to buy my first real camera so if it works out, I will definitely let you know. I will be celebrating Christmas tomorrow as well but with my best friends this time. I do not know what’s on the menu yet but they have accepted to try some of my vegan/vegetarian dishes so I am excited ! Also, I will be participating in Veganuary. It will be my first time ever so if you have done it before, please let me know how it went. If you have some tips, I would love to hear them. I will leave you with some pictures of the food I have eaten today ! I hope to see you all next year ! My Instagram Lots of Kisses Alicia

Let’s be ( food ) friends on Instagram !

Hi Everyone, I did it. I created an Instagram for the blog. It is not a personal Instagram so you will not get any of my shitty jokes like on my Snapchat. I will be posting all the food I do not share on my blog, bought or cooked by yours truly, new cruelty-free makeup and just some cool places – restaurants – cafes I get to check out over here in London. I literally created it an hour ago and I would love to follow you guys and see what you are all up to. My Instagram is Veggieexpat. I know it looks extremely empty but please bear with me, I will try to upload at least once a day ( fingers crossed ). If you can not find me, feel free to leave your Instagram down below and I will look you up! Lots of Kisses Alicia

Cheeky Veggie Dinner Date for under £10.00

Hi Everyone, I know. Finally. A recipe. It has been so long. I have been so good at coming up with new ideas and uploading two times a week that I have forgotten to write down what I ate. Stupid me. Here is what we had for dinner a couple of days ago. It is a vegetarian peppered steak, baby potatoes, mushrooms and broccoli. The meat-free peppered steak is from Quorn. You can find the brand at Tesco and I believe that they have an offer running. Something like buy 3 of their products for £5.00 ( not sponsored by the way ). You all know how to cook your potatoes and broccoli so I thought I would focus on what made the dish so delicious. The sauce. I threw half a spoon of vegan butter in a pan to replace my usual olive oil Half a glass of water A vegetable stock pot A spoonful of truffle mustard A bit of Mulled wine I added my mushrooms and my peppered steak and a tiny …

I really want to get to know you !

Hi Everyone, How are you ? Monday is here and I am writing this post from my phone. Finals are killing me and I thought I would talk to you for a bit before I go back to my boring study session. So let’s chat !  Tell me everything ! Where are you from ? What do you do ? How old are you ? Do you have a blog ? Also, I opened a twitter especially for this blog and to meet fellow bloggers but I only had a couple of people adding me. People seem to add me more on Snapchat for some reasons. So do you want me to close Twitter and just keep Snapchat ?  What do you prefer ? I also have more than 300 people following the blog now and I want to say THANK YOU. That’s more than I could ever imagine and I will have to give something back to you guys. Like I don’t know, check my English before I post anything. But more seriously, I …

What is the best policy when it comes to animal cruelty ?

Hi Everyone, I hope you are doing fantastic. I want to chat with you all about something that has been bugging me lately. You probably don’t know but I am a post graduate student in marketing and I love love love content creation and analyzing any content that comes my way. Whilst I am not really active on Twitter and Facebook ( I mostly retweet and like ), I am still on it every day, constantly connected, watching what’s going on and scrolling through an enormous amount of posts and information. I do follow PETA on Twitter just because I like to know what’s happening in “my world”, and PETA is also one of the most regular vegan news/ animal cruelty related account that I have found so far. I do have to say something. I do not appreciate being exposed to violent/gory videos of animals being tortured and killed. I understand the idea behind it and the shock value they are striving for but it is not the best way to go. In my …

11 Vegan options from London Restaurants that are better than Sex

I was reading Grace Francesca  yesterday and I burst out laughing. Her post on 26 things better than sex was hilarious and way too real. I thought I would do the same with vegan food from restaurants in London which have given me some major orgasms over the past two years. ( I am not sponsored and I have personally tested every single thing on this list. I would never recommend what I don’t believe in ! ) Franco Manca vegan pizza. Happiness for under £5.00. Benito’s Hat spicy mushroom burrito. If you like burritos, Chilango is usually the way to go. But Benito’s Hat is slowly winning my heart with this one. Busaba Eathai and its amazing Pad Thai Jay. A must eat for Thai food lovers. Five Guys Cajun Fries. I honestly don’t care what anyone says. The best burgers are from GBK and Shake Shack and the best fries are from Five Guys. Spicy and cooked in peanut oil ! Pixxa Grilled Peppers & Herbs pizza. Pricey for a pizza but huge and delicious. Perfect …

Saucy Sausage Pasta ( Vegan )

Hi Everyone, I hope you are well. I am on a roll. Three recipes in a week. A miracle ! But also what most of you requested so I am more than happy to oblige. Today is going to be an easy one (no shit ) and a tribute to my Italian ancestors. For this amazing vegan pasta recipe, you will need  A pack of whole wheat spaghetti  A can of chopped tomatoes ( read it to make sure it is 100% vegan )  Red Wine ( optional, I had some left and I remembered my dad using it to make spaghetti & meatballs so I thought, what the hell ) Minced garlic  Salt & Pepper & Oregano  Red Onions ( optional ) Vegan Sausages ( I picked up mine at Tesco ) For the sauce, warm up your pan, throw one spoonful of olive oil, your can of chopped tomatoes, your sliced red onion, half a cup of water, two spoonful of minced garlic. Easy Vegan Rice & Vegetable Recipe

I am back with another recipe ! And it’s easier than the last one ! If they keep getting easier each time, I soon won’t have enough material for an article. For this easy(ish) vegan recipe you will need : Rice ( Brown, Long, Short, White ) Vegetables ( your favorite )  Soy Sauce  (Sesame Seeds) Hot Sauce Olive Oil  Salt&Pepper  Minced Garlic Cook your rice and set it aside whilst you take care of the vegetables and sauce Make the sauce : In a bowl, pour one spoonful of olive oil, one spoonful of soy sauce, drops of hot sauce, and as much minced garlic as you want. I added the salt and pepper at the end as the recipe already had soy sauce and a peppery hot sauce. Throw your vegetables in the pan and wait for them to cook a little bit. Add a tiny bit of water and pour your sauce. Cover it up, lower the temperature and put on a timer. I like my vegetables crunchy, especially carrots, so I always tend …

The Triple T : Tofu Tandoori Treat

Hi Guys, Guess what ? My laptop broke down. Right after I promised you I would post two to three times a week. I hope you are all doing okay. I had the chance to look at the poll and it is going great. I will include it at the end of the post so if you have five seconds to spare, check it out ! For this easy, spicy and 3Ts recipe, you will need : Noodles ( Egg noodles would be amazing with the dish for vegetarians ) Tofu  Tandori Masala dry mix ( got mine from Amazon ) Vegetables of your choice /Vegetables Stir-Fry Sesame Seeds Salt&Pepper&Soy sauce While you wait for your water to boil, carefully take out the tofu, drain the water and cut it into small pieces. Tofu, especially the one I bought from Marks&Spencer, is very hard to cut without it liquefying,  so be careful. If you look at the pictures I took, my tofu was very scrambled. Take out another pan, throw a spoonful of olive oil and your tofu …

Let’s catch up !

Hi Everyone, How are you ? How did you like my rainbow tart ? I just wanted to give you a little life update. The blog has been doing very well lately and I have tons of ideas. As most of you have noticed, I still do recipes and cruelty-free makeup but I also want to include more fashion, music and all that jazz. I am a post graduate student in Business Management & Marketing and will also be working for another startup very soon. So life will get busier but I want and WILL post at least twice a week.  I am vegetarian out but completely vegan at home which is a huge change for me as I used to eat vegetarian pretty much all the time. I will make another “What I eat in a day” post this week or the next just to give you an idea of what I have been cooking & eating.  I have been very lazy lately and my only form of exercise has been walking to uni and …

Rainbow pepper tart

Hi Everyone ! How was your week ? I haven’t been posting a lot because I have been busy with uni and job interviews etc..overall a busy but enjoyable week. I had my whole weekend planned, ready to be productive and enjoy the first days of fall, but I got drunk on Friday. It is so dangerous to go out on a Friday night. You think you will have two days to go out again and recover when in fact, in my case anyway, you always end up going too hard on the first night out and won’t move from your couch for the next two days. So in honor of my legendary laziness, I present you with the easiest tart you will ever make. With the  help of the following ingredients : Three peppers  A tart dough or Puff Pastry for maximum deliciousness  Some sort of Smokey Barbecue Sauce Mustard ( maille is an all time favorite of mine ) Olive Oil & Salt & Black Pepper The only work you will have to do as illustrated above. …

MakeUp & Fashion : Fall Inspiration

Guess what I grabbed today ? InStyle – Special Anniversary Issue. I have to say, InStyle is not my favorite ( I have a strong preference for Dazed ) but it was there, I was bored and I ended up finding some cool new stuff inside. Since it is a special issue, they also included a Hand Cream from a brand called NEAL’S YARD REMEDIES. I had never heard of the brand before so I had to do my research but I will come back to it in a little bit. I often read magazines before I go shopping. Yes, it is very cliché but it does help if you easily get overwhelmed. I always get so distracted when I go shopping and end up never buying anything.  Buying two or three magazines first helps me collect my thoughts and it has become my pre-shopping ritual. The pictures below summarized what interested me the most. I am not a fashion icon or fashion blogger. I appreciate fashion and beautiful clothes. Please don’t take what I say too seriously, my …

Easy Lentil & Rice Curry

I have been so inspired by Fall lately that I had to put together this quick recipe for you ! It is full of flavor, high in protein and will keep you full throughout the day. For this quick recipe, you will need : Red or Green Lentils Brown Rice Curry Powder Coconut milk Chili Powder One red onion Green peas Salt & Pepper So I bet you all know how to cook lentils & rice. Throw them both in the pan with some salt, cover it up and check on it once in a while to avoid overcooking and transforming it into a mushy mess. For the curry sauce, grab another pan and heat it up with some coconut or olive oil. Once it is warm, pour the coconut milk with curry powder and chili powder. Keep stirring when you add the ingredients, to make sure the taste is even and avoid any chunks. Add the onions, peas and whatever leftover veggies you might find in your fridge. I added the salt & pepper …

Amazon Pantry : Hit or Miss ?

Hi Everyone, I have something a bit different for you today. I ordered food with Amazon ! Not uncommon I know but I thought it would be a fun experience and I also wanted to compare the prices between my regular grocery shopping at Tesco and a regular grocery shopping with Amazon. To order with Amazon Pantry, you have to be subscribed to Amazon prime. From there, you have access to the amazon pantry with a good range of products from different supermarkets. This was the part I was most interested in because I mostly shop at Tesco. It is not the cheapest but it is convenient as I live in Central London and wouldn’t be caught dead walking more than 15 mins for groceries. Before we get into my Amazon pantry experience, I just wanted to give you a little reminder of what I usually buy. I spend between £30 to £35 on groceries a week. I buy mostly vegan/vegetarian products and lots of fresh and frozen fruits and vegetables. Amazon pantry does not offer vegetables, fruits …

Saying Goodbye and Cozy Sunday Playlist

Hey Everyone, How are you ? How was your weekend ? The weather is surprisingly lovely today in London and I am heading to the park with a whole new playlist. I just said goodbye to my best friend who is taking the train back to Paris this afternoon. Funny how I hate leaving people behind but I am okay with them going away. The playlist is called Lazy Sunday and is available on Spotify. It is exactly 2 hours long. If you have any suggestions, I would be more than happy to give you access to it. The more the merrier ! Have a safe Sunday !

The Importance of loving Yourself

Hey Everyone, How are you ? I haven’t posted in four days and it felt good. I am alone in the flat for 8 days and decided to use my time wisely. I took the opportunity to be completely alone and secluded for the week. No friends, no shopping and going out, just me and my thoughts in our empty London flat. Whilst my introvert heart usually craves privacy, being left alone and away from social gatherings, I felt really lonely. My mom (and my grandma before her) always says : “Make yourself happy before anyone else, love yourself before you love anyone else and embrace your time alone. Your life will always be filled with people but you’re the only one who will ever stay.” I can’t really translate it from French to English but you get the idea. The first four days were hard, I am not going to lie. I was bored and I was blaming myself for the smallest things. I would often think : ” you should have picked up …

Road Trip Playlist

Hi Everyone, First, the blog reached 106 followers which is pretty fucking awesome if you ask me. So a big thank you to everyone who decided to join me and read my posts. I can’t thank you enough for giving me a voice. I also closed the poll on the blog. It was not as effective as I thought it would be so until I get more feedback, I will keep writing about cruelty-free makeup and food, etc. I wanted to make a list of my favorite horror movies for you guys ( I went to see Lights Out and it inspired me – because it sucked ) but, I went on a Road Trip recently and I made a special playlist. And playlists are meant to be shared ! The movie list can wait and will probably be up on the blog next week. You never know, someone might go on a last minute road trip before uni/school starts again ! You can have a look at my other playlists over there, there & there. I would like to …

What I eat in a day #4 Vegetarian

Hey everyone, How are you ? I would like to apologise for the lack of posts. I write about things I am passionate about / like and I would feel like I am not being true to myself if I would prioritize quantity over quality. I would like to thank everyone who voted and would like to remind you that the poll is still up on the blog. I will look at all the answers at the end of next week. If you haven’t voted already, please check it out ! If you are annoyed at the lack of posts, I have a Tumblr and a Twitter and I try to post more regularly on there ( especially Tumblr ). I am completely new to Twitter but I will get the hang of it eventually. It could be a nice way for us to interact as I would love to get to know you all a little better. Food wise, today was pretty uneventful. I did not cook ( I know, shocking ) but ate …

Economy & Vegetarianism

Hi Everyone, My friend mentioned that one of his colleagues was vegetarian. Not for ethical reasons, but because vegetarianism would, allegedly, be a cheaper and more sustainable diet. I have to admit that coming from a middle class family, growing up without a care in the world and having more than enough food from breakfast to dinner, this had never crossed my mind. Becoming vegetarian was a mix of “I hate red meat anyway” and later on, realizing how much suffering goes into the meat production which is something I decided I didn’t want to be a part of anymore. Maybe the transitioning was made easier for me because I had access to all the food options, but what about those who don’t ? Have you ever thought that people might be giving up meat because they want to reduce the cost of their groceries ? Let’s just search the web for more answers together. When I typed in ” economic vegetarianism”, here is what I found : An economic vegetarian is a person who practices vegetarianism …

A week on Huel – Can I live off liquid for a week ?

Hi Everyone, Today is Monday and you know what that means. Well, nothing really since I upload so randomly.  But I hope you all had a great weekend. I thought that today I would do something different as I have some time to write, do some research and chill at home. Do you remember my first post about vegan snacks ? I quickly mentioned Huel. Now keep in mind that the post was written over a month ago. I had just discovered Huel and was definitely obsessed with how convenient it was. I was having one Huel a day maybe for breakfast with fruits or as a post-workout snack. I never really tried it as a “real” meal replacement. Since then, I have not been using it. Mostly because I have been away. I opened my cupboards this morning and saw that I had half a bag left and a chocolate flavor sachet. Awesome. So I guess this week is the week. I will be having Huel for breakfast – lunch and diner. For five days. Five days only, …

Vegan / Vegetarian and serving meat ?

Hi Everyone, How are you today ? I haven’t posted in three days again and it feels like a lifetime. I have not been too inspired lately. I did go to diner with one of my good friends here in London. We went to this Vegetarian South Indian Restaurant called Sagar which I love because they will also pack you doggy bags. A plus if you tend to over-order like me. The post for today will just be a quick rant. This is something I hear a lot and I wanted to write about it for anybody who may feel bad because of it. It is totally understandable to be vegetarian or vegan and to work in a restaurant that serves meat. People who tell you otherwise need a reality check.Whether you consider being vegetarian or vegan a diet or a lifestyle, it has nothing to do with your job. Sure we would love to all be working our favorite job or having enough money to be able to travel and help the animals, or do more activism. Hell, …

A week counting calories

Hi Everyone ! Well this was a fun week…counting calories and all. Fasten your seat belts and grab your favourite veggie dish because it’s going to be a bumpy read. A little bit of backstory : I used to have a pretty severe eating disorder and counting calories was a daily routine for me. Long story short, I was calorie restricting in order to lose weight. Now that this is in the past, I got really curious and decided to look into it again.Should we really be counting calories ? Is it good for us ? Is counting calories efficient for weight loss ?  After all those years, all I have is memories of me reading labels, searching for calories, and doing more math than I had ever done to make sure I would not exceed this fictional goal I gave myself. So I decided to go ahead and try it again since it is still recommended by many fitness and nutrition “experts”. Now that I am healthier and my relationship with food has changed, I thought that …

What I eat in a day #3 – Vegetarian Recipes

Hi Everyone, How are you ? I feel like I haven’t talked to you in so long. I usually post more often but I am working on something good for you guys which requires a lot of research hence me not being very active this week. To continue the tradition, I bring to you another  What I eat in a day post. I promise I will try to make them less random and set a day for them. I am thinking Friday or Monday. What do you think ? But anyway, so happy to be writing again ! I woke up quite late today ( because I went to bed too late. Again. ) and immediately “made” breakfast. I had a full glass of organic orange juice. Some peanut butter on the side ( this one is delicious. I used to be a fan of the Whole Earth brand. I switched to this one recently and I honestly couldn’t be happier ). And my pineapple from Tesco. This one was not as good as usual. I like …
